Viewsonic

I'm wanting a new monitor. 19" is big enough to satisfy my needs.
I know some monitors can connect to xbox360s , but I dont know how. Having one thats able to connect to a 360 would be nice, but its not a must have.

If you beleive both are shit, can you recommend another?

Also my budget is £170. I don't wanna push it any further.

The rest of my dosh(money) has to go towards a new pc to make use of having such a monitor.

Viewsonic. I trust them more. But Give the hyundai a shot, it has faster response time

No it doesn't. In one of the reviews the guy who bought it says that the website says 5ms but the monitor box says 8ms. There's little to differentiate between the two monitors but I know viewsonic are renown for their monitors, hyundai are, in my eyes, almost a budget choice.

I'd say go with the viewsonic for this budget.

As Cyborg said, the Hyundai has a better response time

Or maybe not?

How about the Belinea 1925S1W 19". I use a 20" Belinea B102035W - and it's a very nice monitor, I'd highly recommend it. You can find specs here.

Has nicer specs than either the others and is a lot cheaper (£132.76 from here).

Half the people I know with Viewsonic monitors have had issues with dead pixels. I know they're supposed to be good quality but in my experience Viewsonic are rubbish - Hyundai do very nice monitors though.

The only thing the Bilinea has over the Hanns-G I posted is that it has a slightly better contrast ratio. However the Bilinea only has analogue input so it's nowhere near as futureproof as the OP is looking for.

It's also way cheaper than the Bilinea at £125 at dabs.com.

I have no idea of overclockers reputation, I'm sure they're probably fine, but dabs.com is a subsidiary of british telecom so you know they're not gonna disappear overnight.

I used to use dabs quite a lot, but I don't like having to create accounts at all these different places. Also I had to return something to dabs once and it took over a year for me to get my money back, it came as a nice suprise when the money finally appeared in my bank though - I'd totally forgotten about it.

That Hanns-G monitor does look quite nice though.

yea i have all viewsonics. great monitors and the customer support is awesome. they exchanged a monitor i bought that had one stuck pixel for a brand new. usually there has to be at least three or four before they will do anything. they also paid for shipping both ways, and allowed me to keep using the bad one until the new one arrived. i can't say enough good things about them.

I have had great experiences with Samsung monitors. I don't know about the cheaper monitors but my 19' 930BF has worked like a dream! I've had it for about a year now and had no problems what so ever.

Unfortunately the OP has a budget of around £170 so Samsung is out.

As the polls show, hyundai are winning, but no one has really said much to back up why they are good.

Viewsonic, however has been given better support. I think I have made my desicion. Thanks guys and/or girls.

I would purchase a SAMSUNG.  I am on my second Samsung and it works great.  I have a Siler 204T.  The refreash rate isn't super high, but I don't notice anything on the screen when I am playing games or anything.  I still kick ass when I'm playing.

unfortunately that monitor is not widescreen, and believe it or not it's £255 here, not $, £.

This monitor is getting a $60 rebate at many retailers.  Not sure exactly how the $289 would translate in your currency but it should be in the ballpark....the only catch is the rebate, it may not be offered in the UK.

I think he wants a widescreen, not 4:3.

To connect to the xbox360 your probably going to want something with Component Y Pb Pr.

I have the VA1912wb and aside from the crappy speakers it's a really good monitor. DVDs look great and games look good as well, although many games don't support true widescreen.

I don't know much about the Viewsonic, but I'd go with the Hyundai, My friend has a 17" and it's really clear and he hasn't had *any* problems with it whatsoever.

EDIT: I'm ordering that Hyundai tonight aswell, and btw, it has a 5ms GTG response rate and an 8ms BTB
