how do i remove it because its not a preffix i do have my new clan tag in the prefix box do i remove that?
Assuming you know your EA password and username and your bf2 login too,all should work normally unless the name icecoldkiller could be already taken.
Also 2142 has the option to add the tag to your a name when logged in,so i would try icecoldkilla first without the clan tag.

They can't tell the difference between name and clan tag (its just a suggestion because you can add it later like they did in BF2), but the only non alphanumeric (A to Z, 0 to 9) characters allowed are dashes ( - ) and underscores ( _ ). So my guess is that <,>, and : aren't allowable in names.
i have tried all suggestions here and it still doesnt work im going to copy and paste what it says its quite long.

Just a server error, if you give it time, just Icecoldkilla should work (assuming its not already taken)
well its a pretty long server error i have been trying for about maybe a month or 2 and it always comes up with that
Why would they release a game and expansion packs, then a month later release a sequel? who knows, its EA, all logic goes out the window.Ice Cold Killa wrote:

i dunno should i just email them and tell them or something?
That would be my next suggestion, but EA tech support is extra-useless, so if you feel lucky give it a shot.
You are right that they won't allow <> or : in your name. They are trying to prevent a SQL Injection or XSS attack, thus your name fails in the Validate method.
I guess you could try emailing, but I would tend to agree with Sgt.Scream.MDK about support

yeah, they would most likely ask you to port forward the BF2 ports and disable your antivirus, like they do for all problems.
