well price wise I'll go for a package for under $140 on a speakers

I have a friend with this setup, it makes my ears bleed. Highly recommended.

I like my Logitech Z5450 - the rear speakers don't have wires to the sub but they do need plugging in to a mains power socket.

THX certified so I now play movies on my computer instead of my home cinema system.

I always thought the Z5450's were overpriced. I prefer the Z5400 or Z5500 sets. In tests it has been shown there is some quality loss on Z5450 rear speakers through the wireless connection. If you want really great audio buy some new fatter speaker cable.

Then you should hear mine. They are nearly twice as powerful at 505 watts RMS.

Do you find that audio from a digital source (AC3, DTS) sounds much louder than other stuff?

I also noticed that the audio quality, on the specs for the Z-680's at least, is not quite as high as on the Z5400/Z5500's - which also support DTS 96/24, which I'm not sure that the Z-680's do.

Yeah, the 5500's are next gen. I got mine over 2 years ago, so...

And no, I don't really notice any volume differences. If anything, movies are quieter than MP3s and such. Then again, I rarely use SPDIF.

Also if you plan getting logitech some of their speakers have weird wire connection, its weird how you get a wire and the wire is split into two pieces one part of the wire is plus one is minus, so each the plus part of the wire has to go to the plus side of the speaker and the which color coded i think its red, and the minus part of the wire has to go to the minus part of the speaker. Also the wire is going from subwoofer to each speaker so you have to apply the same steps described up top to the subwoofer also. Also if you push the wire too much in the either speaker or the subwoofer the speaker wont genorate any sound at all so you have to perfectly allign the cut part of the wire thats suppose to go inside the speakers.

It's a very, very similar card to the Audigy 2 ZS, which is much cheaper. You're going to need some very, very fancy speakers to be able to distinguish between them.

If you're doing professional audio editing then an Audigy 4 is a better card, for home use there is little difference.

But an X-Fi is better than either.
