Karla Homolka was responsible for the rape and murders of multiple teenage girls in Canada. But after 12 years, North America's most notorious female serial killer is free.

https://www.snydernews.net/images/homelka.jpg

Homolka was released from a Canadian prison last summer after serving 12 years for a manslaughter conviction. Canadian officials granted her leniency for testifying against her ex-husband, Paul Homolka, who is spending the rest of his life behind bars and committed acts so heinous that probably even a few Canadians thought the death penalty might be a fitting punishment for the male half of duo known as the "Ken & Barbie Killers."

Karla Homolka actively participated in these vicious crimes, including the rape and her murder of her own 15-year-old sister. Now she lives amongst other Canadians. An enterprising reporter recently discovered that she was living in Montreal.

Homolka is in a truly unique position: a known and convicted serial killer who is free.

edit: i am suprised, however, that she got 12 years. I would have expected 13-16 yrs. Are punishments quite leniant in canada

Paul Bernardo.  Basically they both blamed each other during their trial(s) (gasp).
I'd have left them both locked up.

It was mildly surprising she was allowed so much privacy.

Often, for crimes that you'd expect some serious punishment for, it's not so serious, and vice versa.  Or so those are the ones we hear about most often.

Yes, I remember reading about this a bit ago.  She was released, but they just recently found out where she was living?

Also, I wouldn't classify her as a serial killer, but more of a spree killer.  That being said, in the U.S. she would be on death row right now

i found it disturbing that she was living in an area around so many small children. Also does anyone else think that she is kinda hot?

I wonder if your little sister was one of those that was raped and murdered if you would still give her a second chance?

You don't change after these things. Well, that's what I believe. When people say something/do something terrible, it's a lot of times (Not all, but a lot) just in their personality.

Ridiculous.

She got a shorter sentence then paul because she gave him up to the police, She lices in montreal.

The only reason she got a shorter sentence was because she testified to doing these crimes with Paul Bernardo.  The police didn't have enough evidence to convict them so they cut a deal with her because they wanted Bernardo more.  Ironically, during the trial, and after they made the deal, the police found some video tapes of them killing, cutting etc the children.

yeah in some countries outside of U.S. in Europe you don't get a life time for killing someone or murdering them you only get like 20yrs then you are out of the jail. And they are even more lenient towards other things. Canada has a European feel to it, so its more lenient.
