I'm really excited about ranking up through Support, then Engineer. How do the support guns handle? I've read about them getting more accurate the longer you fire. Support also unlocks the IPS Shield and the A12 Sentry gun. Have you used or encountered either one, and if so, describe the experience please.

yes the support guns get more accurate when you fire for extended perionds. the problem is that in the beta they overheated very quickly (maybe 15-20s max fire time, only way to continually fire was to shoot 3 bullets, wait 1s then shoot again). apparentely this is going to be adressed in the demo and support will actually be a usefull class.Tecova wrote:

i unlocked both the ips shield and the senetry drone for support.
ips shield: if you prone behind it, you immune to hand-held projetile weapons. all vehicle weapons and nades/rocket launcher penetrate. the shield can be destroyed it you hit it at the bottom. so always drop a ammo hub next to you when using it, so incase it gets destoryed you can immediately redeploy it. in fact the shield is only usefull in situations where the enemy can only come from 1 direction (like in the titan) , otherwise you are a welcome target for being flanked. also the red glow of theshield will immediately draw attention to you, so only use it when you are already spotted. also you can never use more than 1 at a time. its like the claymores in bf2 where there can only be a max of 2 used by you at any time. if you lay another one, the first one dissapears
senetry drone: any kills it makes directly count towards your kills. they are no different than a kill from any other weapon point wise. they only have a limited range, so only useful when you can place them close to a choke point. they have a radar, that will detect enemies (not sure if it will detect any hidden snipers). also its very useful as an early warning system, as it will start to shoot in the moment a enemy walks into the radar, even if a wall is in the way. it will only shoot at infantry not at vehicles. as for the lethality: its pretty dangerous at close range. it has a relatively high ROF is pretty accurate but a very limited range (max 15m or less). anything beyond that range is not dangerous. however if you stay a good bit away from it, it can be destroyed by a nade easyly. like the ips shield, only 1 can be deployed at a time. also they are stationary to the ground, so if the titan moves, the drone will move around it (not sure if that is being adressed in the next version)

so, in BF2 the only way you can see where an enemy is through a wall is if you have some kind of hack. This netbat thing sounds like they just decided to cut the hackers off at the feet and put the hack in the game.
Did the netbat thing make life tons more difficult in trying to be sneaky in the game?

I think I am an effective sniper in BF2 with out hopping or diving, but I don't like the SVD because there range is not long enough to keep you out of harms way and then they don't do that much damage when do get confronted. To me it was worse in the beta because there so much movement that you really can't shoot off several rounds in a row. With the bolt action in bf2 I have a half a chance in close quarters or more if they don't see me coming, but that was not the case in the beta.
as soon as you get the zoom it get's really easy to use the sniper also if you have a g5 mouse or use your driver to assign different mouse speed when you click a button (gives the effect that you don't fell the sway) this does it way better i known it's a bit of a cheat to slow down your mouse but it really improves it, also the sniper is more effective at long distances if you know how to use it's really great and is better than bf2 ( you just gotta remember to try to do headshots and you rape them)
Talk a little about the mechs and gunships. How do gunships handle? like planes and or helos? Or just helos? Are they like gods or they crap or just in the middle on the battlefield (i don;t want a j10 nor do i want a f35b...but are they f18s)? I just hope they arent flying coffins

This doesnt appear on lower graphics settings. I had mine on low/medium mix, and its transparent, with a slight glow when you shoot it.also the red glow of theshield will immediately draw attention to you, so only use it when you are already spotted.

Close range snipers are pretty much over. Sniping is now more about getting a good position.in bf2 a sniper does a roll and does a snapshot on you in the head. i guess you cant do that in 2142
1. Gunships: Kinda like the F35. W makes you go forward, S hovers (but much more stably than the F35), A and D strafe and arrows/mouse moves the nose. They're more like helicopters than planes, but much easier to fly. If you stop thrusting, they slowly hover down to the ground, unlike BF2 choppers, whihc tend to spin and crash. So far, they're weapons are crap. They're the same as the Bf2 ones, but the rockets have small explosions and the TV missile is conjtrolled directly by mouse movement, not clicking. Unless you have a DPI switching mouse, you cant hit anything, as the sensitivity is messed up (if you improve it you cant fly/drive properly).1. Talk a little about the mechs and gunships. But remember, most of could change come demo/game/patches.
2. Mechs: You gotta love these. They have the same controls as BF2 tanks, they get unlimited sprint, can walk over low obstacles, and can crouch. Most people seem pretty crap in them, but I used to play Mechwarrior a lot, so if you know what you're doing, they rule. The high point of view means people can't hide like you can from a tank. Their speed allows them to escape most circumstances that they'll lose (against a good tank driver, or 2 tanks). Weapons are: guns/rapid lasers and swarm rockets (dumb fire, but curve a bit to cover a larger area) for pilot, and machine gun, AA missile for the gunner.
3. APCs have about 4-5 pods, in all seats except driver and gunner. Titans have 4 pods, on the sides of the launch bay. Helicopter transports have one in each seat, that drop, instead of shooting up (the others do). Once you are in a seat, you hit right mouse button (or left on a titan) to launch. You control looking with the mouse, and direction with the arrows. If in an APC, you can go quite high, but not that far (could change - it did from beta 1 to 2). When near the Titan, you can launch about 4 times the hieght to reach the Titan (although you can miss it and land somewhere else if you want). In your own Titan, the pods launch much further and higher (and you're up high to start with) enabling you to reach flags from quite a distance. Y0ou can also jump on top of your titan to defend.
4. No idea whatsoever. I'm sure we;'ll get Verdun (beta map) and maybe one more.

No. But in Titan mode, you can spawn into APCs and transport choppers.

With a decent audio setup(I have a dt770 headphone+x-fi), bf2's sounds OWN. Particularly , bf2's sound department has plentyyyyy of bass(especially artillery drops). Are bf2142's sounds just as earth-shatteringly good?

Well, people said they got better FPS on Beta 1 then on Beta 2*... (I have a X1900 XTX so I didn't notice a difference.) I do believe that the maps load faster though.lendll wrote:
