You may mean http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi … %26fvi%3D1

But are you assuming EVERY listing includes those details? Because they dont. Therefore, not every auction is traceable back to a bf2 account name. If it was, eBay is not going to take it down without hard proof of some kind. It goes back to the fact that the seller is their customer, and they are making a % of what that listing sells for, and are not just going to take them down because some guy said it was his.
It's a forbidden item anyway?
And to sell an account, you need to put at least some info on eBay or nobody would buy it.
I found the name for this account and many others too, it is not hard at all to find out which account belongs to who. Just check the leaderboards.

Yeah but that's bullshit.

The idea of selling intangible/virtual goods is 100% legal on eBay... unless of course the company who supports those goods is in the eBay VERO program: http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/vero-rights-owner.html

But EA/Dice are not in that program.

Okay, that leaves the question on how EA is to reset an account if no name is given on the eBay site when it's for sale (and sold)? Just random guessing?

Yes and this smells like bullshit.

http://cgi.ebay.com/battlefield-2-accou … dZViewItem

And someone comes along to bid a 150 bucks, not 50 but 150, like it's nothing.
+ it's a modern combat account and I don't see a 180k anywhere.

EA doesnt reset every account listed on eBay. If they did, there would be a lot of assumptions made on their end which would result in the reset of accounts belonging to innocent people.

The seller in that auction, davecapt, purchased that account back on July 31 here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi … 0012842752

He is now re-selling it in that auction. So I'm sure its not bullshit, he even has 21+ feedback anyway. Usually scammers have 0 and are new sellers.

Yes, but I dont see why he would put that in there. He's re-selling an account he bought a while ago from another seller. Why would he scam someone having that good of feedback too? And if the deal went smooth with the seller he originally purchased it from, its most likely going to go well with his buyer. Notice he didnt include modern combat in the title, so it is probably a listing error.

Please post the link to the 'many others' you found a name for. While you're at it, find the name to these:

And I told you thats my point and case. It's not that easy, in fact its almost impossible. EA is not going to pay someone to sit down for "hours" and go through these, and make a guess that its the correct one JUST because someone is reselling their account.

What if somebody lists one, and then goes and earns a ribbon or a few more points for certain stats WHILE its being listed? Then the stats are outdated, and finding it is virtually impossible

Also, none of those images for the stats were duplicates, its just the same seller in some. Plus, if you check out the seller he has had good feedback on many of those deals

No scamming there, but nice try

Good one. Of course, I've pretty much written a book explaining things while you give 1 or 2 word replies that are meaningless. Way to debate!

When they sign into your account, they get your email because its placed in a file called profile.con. This happens for every account you log in to.

Then, they can go to gamespyid.com and enter the email and password, and change it all that way.

THIS HAPPEND TO ONE OF THE GUYS IN MY CLAN, he just gave up trying to fix it and started a new acc. but the guy that did it went onto a serv that we were playing on and typed that his password was stanley and that was his password, so he logged off and tried to get back on but it had been changed. who ever is doing this, it is some serious hacking.
Lol... That kind of hacking is childs play... I could do that shit when I was 8 years old (Ok I admidt that was a long time ago, and security was when your modem number was unlisted !). I can teach a MONKEY to "hack" like that. All the guy it doing is following the "trail" of the password, how can I get the password:

1) Login with it on the BF2 account server
This takes a freaking long time, and while I have not yet tested their security system in terms of lockout attempts etc. I would assume no brute force hacker would EVER want to spend this much time
2) Login on the GAMESPY account
This is strictly HTTP, so it's easy to fool, usually there's no decent security, and the gamespy password is USUALLY the same as the B2 account
3) Create a new account and have the accountinformation transfered
This is what the guy is doing now, probably because he found a way to circumvent the normal bruteforce time requirements by simply faking a header.
4) Forced entry into the servers storing the information.
Most hackers wont go there, because that's the part that takes real skill to circumvent the firewalls, routers, etc. etc.

But if it's really THAT easy to bruteforce gamespy, I'd seriously consider if the money I payed for the game was going towards anything worthwhile. If I had a ranked serer, I'd pretty much DEMAND that my users (players) keys were kept in a SAFE and secure environment, or withhold/stop my payment.

    Hi, elite.mafia@fakemail.com.

This email is to confirm that you have successfully changed your GameSpyID email address from elite.mafia@fakemail.com to elitemafia11@fakemail.com.

This password change came from the IP address ***
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at http://support.gamespy.com/.

Which makes no sense because theres no confirmation link or anything... :S
Someone stole my GamespyID too, I got an email just like that one and now I can't login to it. I think someone got my Profile.con file DURING a battle. Then logged in and changed the email address while I was playing. I was on a server called: "204.13.109.70" 29900 "=ESU= 24/7 KUBRA DAM by Nova-Games" 160

I had quit and started Special Forces and my password didn't work. My account is gone.
