Norton and McAfee *are* infections. They bog your system down and install so much crap you will end up re-installing Windows. I have lost track of the number of PCs that I have seen with Norton *and* viruses.

If that wasn't clear, Norton is shite, McAfee is *slightly* less shite.

If you want antivirus that just works get Nod32 from Eset - it's the dogs bollox!

No, really - get Nod32.

I use AVG , Norton is probably the most controlling software I have ever used. I cant comment on McAfee as I never used it
yeah McAfee also they did a study on both McAfee and Norton in PC World magazine and they said both anti virus software system slowed the PC dramatically when booting up the system.

Neither, I run BitDefender and its blazingly fast. Its been in the top two (along with Kasperski) in the last dozen reviews so it looks like I'm not the only one who rates it.

Out of the two you have mentioned I would only use McAffee. Norton is an evil that should be left on the 13th step of Hell. It will cause more damage to your PC than you could possible imagine. Its almost as Bad as AOL once its on there its almost impossible to get rid of it, the uninstaller will not remove all of the application.
