This isn't going to be any consolation but from my experience way back when my first account was subjected to the gamespy/bf2login account corruption bug EA couldn't have cared less about restoring my account.
I can trace the IP and possibly get the persons address.Stun_Gun wrote:

I read a book about codebreaking. Apparently the US could possibly build a giant super computer capable of breaking the longest passwords or codes in a matter of minutes. So a US intelligence agency could of hacked your account to see if you were naughty or nice. But time for seriousness. I feel really bad for you because you are a colonel. To think that you lost your account to some nerd who spent a good amount of his time checking you out, I would be enraged. Hope that for once that the crappy EA can actually do something good for someone.
Oh yeah, +1 for your troubles.

bad luck man... I cant help you but i suggest you start a second account and get awesome stats from your experience.

If he used a proxy server to change it (which is a strong possibility) then the IP is no good because it's not his. If he's smart enough to be cracking these accounts, I'm sure he's smart enough to use a proxy to change the account informationSgt.Gene wrote:

And if it was his real isp, they arent going to do anything about a stolen account. It happens all over the net daily, but isn't looked at because there are more serious crimes like credit card fraud, identity theft, or whatever.. choose one. A case where someone got his game account taken isn't going to get much attention, because there's really no serious damage being done.
And then you have to go through the case of proving it was yours. Gamespy wont reset passwords if there wasnt a credit card on file with your gamespy account, because there is really no other way to TRULY prove the account was yours. Screenshots, movies, etc. (although are good proof to the common person) wont work because it's not enough proof in their eyes. Those can be easily duped.
I dont mean to be so blunt about it, but it's really a waste of time to try and fight for it knowing Gamespy's polices. In the future choose strong passwords (symbols, numbers, upper case, etc..), dont download hacks (not saying you did, its just a tip), dont put your password into anything other than trusted gamespy services/clients.

don't register with game spy thats your biggest mistake I never did its so easier to hack into someones account and system while its on the web rather then on the bf2 screen. Your first mistake was using or registering with Game-spy learn from your mistakes.
I hope you realize that all BF2 accounts are gamespy accounts.blademaster wrote:

dont they have on record what the email and password was before the change?soadlink wrote:

from my understanding is that they would and that i would pretty much be asking for them to reset to the first email and pass which has been the same since the game came out and then i will be able to change it to whatever i like.
Let's say Blazin.UK has an email of blazinuk@hotmail.com. Someone hacks that email so he immediately changes all his other information before the hacker can get his other stuff (gamespy account, paypal, whatever). He changes his email to: blazinuk@yahoo.com with a new password in the gamespy accounts page, and everything is all good.Stun_Gun wrote:

Now the person who hacked his old email goes to gamespy and says: "hey my email and password were changed! can you change it back to blazinuk@hotmail.com!"
^ lets say they listen to the hacker and reset his email to the @hotmail.com, then the hacker does a password reset which is sent to the hotmail email, and he successfully resets blazin.uk's password. Now the hacker has blazin.uk's gamespy account.
That is why they dont use an email as proof. If there was a credit card verified on file, you could call/email gamespy and verify the full number. According to them, that is enough proof to reset. However, if there was no credit card on file.... I hate to say you're pretty much out of luck.
ok, well how about when i bought AF and EF does that go through with gamespy?
i know it goes thru EA but it must go thru gamespy because you have to have the same account name to play the game. get what im saying?
and i almost think the hacker is hacking these account maybe looking for a credit card on the account to use... everyone i talked to about their account has not been used since they lost their account.

Do you have Gamespy Arcade installed?
Hrm just curious, why do you use gamespy to play bf2?
We don't. Our BF2 accounts are stored on Gamespy servers.
