So I have decided to liquid cool my gaming rig. I have set up liquid cooling kit before on a older system, but it was a complete kit so I didn't have to purchase anything seperate and it was very basic. I want something a little better for my gaming rig. I have been looking at several pre built liquid cooled cases on frozen cpu. They are a little pricey, but i don't mind paying if they will last. I really am not sure about what all I would need if I peiced the kit together myself. I will post my specs below so if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Also here is a link to the case I am looking at.

Basicly I just want to cool the processor and vid cards.

I couldn't recommend that setup.  One of the big problems I see is that they only use 1/4" ID tubing.  I wouldn't use anything less than 3/8" ID, and with multiple high heat generating devices, I would recommend 1/2" ID.  They also fail to list the water flow characteristics of the pump.

If it were me, I think I'd go with a solution from some place like Danger Den.  I bought all my H2o stuff from these guys, and they are very reliable.

The one down side to places like DD is that you have to figure out how to make all that stuff fit in your case, or mod your case to make it fit, where that is all taken care of with something like the case you were looking at.

Well, I looked up your case.  It looks like you have room for the radiator there at the back where that 120mm fan is located.  Just move the fan to the outside of the case.  The type of fans used in cases are better at pulling air than pushing it, so that would actually work out.  Just make sure to put a grill on the fan.  They make bay resevoires, or you can just use a "T" in the line to give you a fill/bleed tube.  Pumps these days are pretty small, so I don't see you having a problem finding a spot for it somewhere in the case.

Yea, i just and not exactly sure what all i need. I just wish the build your custom kit thing on their site gave a little more explination about each part.

Exactly what is it that you aren't sure about?

if you could just list exactly what i need, i am going to hold off on the vid cards because the blocks are to expensive right now. also i would like to get the drive bay resevoires.

Things you will need.

1. Radiator
2. CPU water block.
3. Tubing.  I recommend the tygon or tygon equiv.  It doesn't allow evaporation like regular tubing, and doesn't kink nearly as bad when trying to route it.  You will probably want to get at least 6'; I like to have extra in case I make a booboo, so you may want to consider a little more.
4. Hose clamps.  You can either get some like they have, or just get regular clamps from your local auto parts store.
5. Water addative.  There are several, but what you must have is one that prevents algae growth.  Anything else it does is just a side benefit.
6. Resevoire.

Other things you will need, but may have, don't want to get, or can't get from there:

1. A good thermal compound, like AS.
2. Distilled water.  Do not try to use plain tap water.

NOTE: Make sure that whatever waterblock you select includes the mounting hardware.  If not, add it to the list.

And lastly, I recommend you sketch everything out on paper first to determine how/where you want things to go and the order in which they will be in the system.

this is where i am going to try to get everything together. if i pretty much go down this little list what do i need to select and not select. i have a general idea, but i don't want to purchase everything and begin to install it only to realize i don't have something i need.

just get a pitcher fill it full of water (add ice for even better heat dissipation) and slowly pour it onto your processor/ video card... tadaaa!

tell me how that goes.

CPU type: AMD64
CPU water block:  TDX (this is what I have, and is better than the Maze4) It seems to include the mounting hardware.
Top style:  This is personal preference.  Obviously the brass top is a bit sturdier than lucite.
Fitting size: 1/2 OD high flow ( you don't need the "perfect seal" part)
Radiator: Black Ice XTreme
Pump: 1st choice - DD12V-D5  2nd choice - MAG II - LE
Tubing: 10" Clearflex 1/2" ID
Resevoir: High-Density Polyethylene (I don't know that you will need dual inputs just yet because you don't have the video cards in the loop, but you can get a plastic "bolt" from your local Home Depot, or similar, as it need only be 3/8" NPT to fit.)  I don't like the Lucite units because they are separate pieces glued together, and to me would seem to create way to many points of possible failure over time.
Thermal paste: If you have some, no.  If you don't, their price on the AS5 is as good as it gets.
Water Addatives: MCT-5 (has anti-growth addatives, but also lubricates and is non-conductive)  A single order is 32oz, so you may want to order 2.  One to get your system filled and bled, and hold onto the rest to top off when needed.  Also, this is apparently a pre-mix, so you don't need distilled water to go with it.
Misc: Depends on whether you want to use their clamps or buy some from the auto parts store.

yeah that is what i was thinking, except i may go with the black ice pro radiator because it appears to be a bit thinner, and also i might use the Danger Den DDC-12 because it also seems to be a bit smaller.

Well, there are 3 things to consider with those choices.

1. That pump is fine for just the CPU, but I wouldn't want to try it if you eventually add waterblocks to your SLI config.

2. That pump is only offered with 3/8" fittings.

3. That radiator is fine for just a CPU, and even 1 video card, but I don't know that I would try to cool the CPU and SLI with it.

The recommendations I made were based on the fact that you would be cooling only the CPU now, but would eventually add water blocks to your SLI.

well if you go through on that custom kit selection thing they have an option of choosing that pump with custom 1/2 in fittings. yea for right now i am just concerned about the cpu. i will eventually be upgrading to a case which has a extra psu slot. when i do i will be able to accomodate a larger pump and radiator.

I tried water cooling, put my computer in the sink, turned the water on and, now I dont have any temperature to worry about.

Well, you'll be fine with the Black Ice Pro, but I would still recommend that you with the MAG II - LE at least.  I assure in terms of size they really aren't that much different.  The pump you selected is only 105GPH where the MAG II - LE is 150GPH.  Believe me, you will regret not getting a pump with more flow and head height capacity

your prob right. i like the idea of being able to upgrade the kit. thanks for the help i think i am going to purchases this later this week. i will post all my failed attempts later on with plenty of pics.
