Forgive me for posting this in both BF2 and BF2142 but I believe this topic is a concern for both the players of BF2 and people interested in BF2142.

Don't Complain To DICE, No One's Listening
By: Florian Eckhardt

https://www.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2006/10/Battlefield-2142-b2-16.jpg

Electronics Arts buys DICE, makers of the Battlefied series. Then Computer And Video Games comes along and conducts this interview with Marcus Nilsson, senior producer of Battlefield: 2142, and he says this:

" It's not that we are necessarily very bad, we're not, but there is a very vocal minority on the forums who say 'EA is crap' and 'DICE are lazy', but they're all probably playing the game every day already anyway. We have minor problems, sometimes we have big problems, but minor problems are not what people should write about. Maybe they should write about why they're playing Battlefield every day. But that's human nature, I guess - you have a vocal minority and a silent majority. "

Lovely attitude. If you are complaining about something the devs qualify as "minor", they suggest you would be better off spending your time writing about, say, your own sexual dysfunctions. After all, you are part of the minority that speaks... the majority loves the game and has no problem with it, as evidenced by the fact that they aren't talking.

Man, Marcus, shut up. That vocal minority? Those are the true fans of your game. The guys who aren't talking? They are the guys who ponied up the money, got bored a week later and aren't likely to come up. Silence in gaming forums, as in death, does not indicate satisfaction.

My Response:

Although Marcus Nilsson does present an understanding defense it does not support the good of the company.
Basically what he said was: "We will only listen to you if you are important and make a reasonable claim."

Electronic Arts has not been exactly the most favored of gaming/producing company out there...
False advertising really makes the company look very unprofessional.  Whether it was a "Minor" patch release or not.  Same goes for making a fake/"dubbed up" product at gaming conventions.  Laws have been passed for that and it will eventually come to America.

All I have to say is when the time comes compare the community of BF2 to BF2142 down the road.

If BF2142 does not exceed the popularity that BF2 presented then I believe you failed at producing your game.  The ignored minorities can end up collecting into a majority...

What do you guys think about this?

They should really consider the opinion of the players that have experience with the game over all other opinions. Why don't they ask everyone whose, say a major or better, or has more than 600 hours, or who has 80% of awards. At least some benchmark, because the people to listen to are the people that know.

I'd take Bushviper's opinion of the game over most any player, for these reasons:
1. He mastered the game. He knows what he doing.
2. He has all the awards, so he has done almost every part of the game (not just commanding, like Firestorm, ect)
3. He's logged time.
There are many others who fit these requirements, as well.

These are the types of people who should be consulted, not random forums names.

Obviously they are listening or nothing would change.

They are listening... the problem is when they are trying to do something it turns out the same or worse than it was before. Sure they did some important and useful changes but we don't see them because the game still has some "miscalculations" and it's easier to spot one bad thing than ten good things. Yes, me and many others still playing this game regardless of anything, but as it was proven before "Noobs majority dominates experienced minority". That's just the way it was and always will be...

basically, whne the minorities that are P**ed off abouit the individula problems unite, then oh dear, it turns out theyare a amjority. divide and rule only works until theyall realise what is happening aftre all( look at iraq, they are beginning to realise that al-quiada are trying to get them to rip each other apart, and now in anbar province, the iraqis are  desrtroying al-quiada)

That is a statement - not an interview. Its like a politicians answer: complete and utter bullshit trying to sound convincing to keep people happy.
Im sorry, but I dont buy into what they say, and I certainly dont buy into that.

The so called "vocal minority" are the ones who actually go onto forums such as these and voice their opinions. These are the people who are either pubbing like crazy and/or in clans having matches in leagues or just friendlies. Whether they play all day or not is what gives them the knowledge of the game and gives them a unique knowledge of the game that any DICE/EA beta testers would never find.
They are gona have a LOT more experience in the game and know a lot of the bugs/issues/problems with the game and post about it. More importantly, they (or should I say, "we") know how the game plays.
A Minor bug or Big bug, it is still a bug - something which shouldn't exist and should have been eradicated after how many patches now?
Red name tags, wall glitching...etc. Why is it that you dont get any of this crap in any other game...yet BF2, we do? Simple. DICE.

The so called "silent majority" are the ones who have (mostly) played the game for 100hours or less and got bored and went elsewhere. Back in 1.3, they probably gave up since the game was unstable.
Or maybe they just play the game whatever and dont care in helping identify bugs in games for people.
They are next to useless in determining bugs and helping to sort out this game.

Dont get me wrong, I rarely encounter bugs that people mention all the time and I love the game - however, I simply hate political style bullshit answers, especially those which slate off what appears to be the entire competitve and non competitive community (so everyone) in a game. A game which THEY created....

I agree with both of you guys. I sick of the bitching, but at the same time EA / DICE NEEDS to listen to its customers. Why? Because with out customers EA, and DICE, and all those involved would go out of business.

Over all. BF2 rocks, I love it, Its a bench mark game, and after a year im not near board of it...

DICE need to just go bankrupt. Then all their good developers and managers should make.. I don't know... DICE (Digital Illusions Computer Entertainment) and make BF2 how it was going to be. Laser guided bombs, more voice commands, better infantry gameplay, more destructible envrionments, better graphics, etc.

Having the most awards or the most global points doesn't make you an expert on anything.  It just means you play the game a lot.  Nothing more.

But it also means you have experience. It is not easy to get all the awards+high spm+high score+high kdr with every weapon.
These guys with this kinda gear have an intimate knowledge of every part of the game. That was my point.
