yes if u die, u lose it. also, if you get in a vehicle, ladder, open parachute, etc. it goes away.

Something similar happened to me on Karkkirklalalalaland. I was commanding, round ends, and when it went to the end of round screen I had no fog. I was like "wtfhax" and wanted to pwn someone without having hacks but when I respawned I couldn't move =/
