I dont. I suck. Of course, I;m not a 1337 groundpounder either. Anyway, the point I was making was that - that guy said he would hover the gunner out of bounds and go with no gunner, then I said, your such a 1337 pilot that you dont need a gunner.

See?

Well he has a point. The only time i need a good gunner is i'm going against a chopper (at range), for everything else he can go afk for all i care.

Thats the problem with becoming a TV expert. Either you depend on having a good pilot or you depend on getting a chopper all to yourself which without being a prick, is really tough.

I'm no expert but I try to give the other fella the benefit of at least trying to learn what to do as a gunner in a helo.  I try to be very patient and if that doesn't work, I'll stop flying altogether until the next round starts to give someone  else a chance to fly the attack helo.

I really hate it when someone jumps in the pilot seat and I jump in the gunners seat, the pilot takes off and asks me to bail out without giving a reason.  EXAMPLE: I was in Dalian Plant and some idiot asked me to bail out of the gunners seat after we left the carrier.  The clown asked me to bail out over the water which would have taken a lot of time to swim to either the carrier or the shore so I declined.  He flew to the boundary and forced suicide me to vacate the gunners seat.  If he had stayed above the carrier or was above land and had given me a reason to bail out (I like to fly with my buddy, etc.) I more than likely would have bailed out.  Needless to say, I made him miserable throughout the entire round!

I can understand that some players have their favorite/usual gunners but, if you don't want to fly with someone else, KINDLY ask them to bail, give them a good reason and put them in a spot that's not gonna jeopardize their gameplay for that moment.  In other words, don't drop them right in the middle of an enemy block party!!

And to those peeps who like to jump from the pilots seat to the gunners seat (fly alone), the helo is not designed for that.  Yes, it can be done in the game so therefore it must be allowed but, the attack helo is intended for a crew of two.  Trust me, it works better with a good pilot and a good gunner.

I paid my money same as everyone else, and if I say that there is more enjoyment in going solo, then I'm right.

Try and solo warpig, you'll love it when you get the hang of it.

It is nice to gun for a good pilot though, it's so much more relaxed. Best pilot I've gunned for is [IB] Frankenstein. He kept out of the action, and picked every target for me. We ended up with gold and silver.

The splash damage on the SF choppers rockets means troop hunting can be done effectively and a direct hit is not needed.  Great when your gunners can hit a pile of shit at 3 feet.  Also, since the TV missile is almost useless is SF, there is even less need for a gunner.

Well, one time, I had this one gunner who didn't seem to get the idea that he had to shoot things......He just had to go. I bailed on his ass. I would rather take my chances alone then have someone who won't shoot. I mean I gave him a chance the first time, but when he stood beside me at the chopper spawn again....

Also had the case where you end up with a newb who thinks he can fly, but all he ran really do is fly it off the carrier deck and into the water. I love watching them con people into getting in with them.

Noob: "Get in"
Me: "No, I think I'll just take the boat, you go on ahead....no really"
Unsuspecting teamate: "Hey, I'll go"

**SPLOOSH**

Pissed teamate: "WTF n00b?"
Noob: "Get in"

TV missiles are useless in SF, if the pilot doesn't know how to line the gunner (where the TV box is).
Good luck if you wanna try to kill every tank/apc/mobile AA in maps like Ghost Town or Surge with the Hind's dumb rockets.
I agree on their effectiveness vs infantry.

Back on topic: if the gunner is totally useless I spawn elsewhere and do something else.
Usually he tries to fly alone, but fails miserably and gives up after 2/3 crashes.
Then i spawn at the chopper again and go pick up a new gunner.

I rarely pilot these days, and i'm far from expert, but if i had/have a gunner who didn't tvm i'd say over voice and talk him through it - no point shouting at him/her as when I first started I didn't know about TVM's and got talked through it.  If they can't hit anything; then they need practice which i'm glad to pilot for them to do if they're alright and not like "Fffs PILottT!111oneonez0mgzlies".

I used to say "Alright guns up, lets do this LEEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOY JENKINS" and suicide the chopper into a tank.

But now i just twist my stick, so the chopper gets airborne by spinning, and i just keep doing that, most of the time the little 10 year olds have a sad and jump out.
Saying "shit, the chopper is C4'd RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!" sometimes gets em out pretty quick, then you just fly off also works pretty good.

I know where the TV boxes are on the Vanilla choppers and roughly where the SF ones are, just no one ever seems to bother with TV missiles because of the fog and cramped flying space of some maps.

Also the bloody rocket separation means you can strafe a tank and nothing hit, with the rockets going harmlessly either side of the tank.

When I get a crap gunner, I give them one go and if all fails, spin upside down and bail over the nearest enemy flag.  I don't want him with me on the ground either.
