Alright so im getting some nice ram soon, probably some corsair xms. And ive heard that the key to overclocking your processor is to have good ram. I have an Athlon 3700, and i wanna juice it up a little bit. Pretty much all i know about overclocking a processor is that you increease the frontside bus and the multiplyer. Can someone tell me how to do it in the bios. Because my bios kind of dont allow me to do much. I have Phoenix AwardBIOS v6. Is it just my noobness or is it the bios?

Wrong section, moved to tech. Please pay more attention to where you post in the future.

Its all in the BIOS.

I am not familiar with AwardBIOS, but if you search around in all the catagories, you should see the HTT multiplier and the FSB adjuster.

But be warned, Overclocking voids your chips warranty, and can damage or destroy your chip.

Best tutorials I may add

Ocing is about good ram, its about how how of a yield your cpu is, and how durable your mobo is.

PM Joker3327 he knows an execptional amount about processors and overclocking and anything regarding PC building and upgrading. It one of the reasons we keep letting him back in to the office.

I'd go to a site that deals with your brand of motherboard, i.e DFI, Abit and Asus has them. They'll be able to talk you though best, some will have the same MB as you do, same verson of BIOS.

Some things  to think about.

1. Make sure your powersupply is a good one.
2. You'll need good ram.
3. You don't have a FX chip, your multiplyer is capped at 11x.  (11x x 200=2200mhz)
4. You'll have to lower your HTT to like 4x, you have to say at or below 1000mhz on your front side bus.
5. Take baby steps don't just like set your frequency at like 250 i.e 11x x 250=2750mhz.
6. You'll want to find out the max you can OC your CPU and still have a stable system. And you want to do the same with your ram.
7. You'll be at it for a long time!!!!

Just search for over clocking guides and you'll find them.
