Why is SP 16 players only?

Does anyone know the reason behind 16 player maps on SP and no unlocks? y EA/Dice y

Im not asking How, dont post links to the tweaks and mods.

i think its because it takes far more processing power to have 63 bots running around i mean there pretty shit at the moment imagine how bad they would be if the game had to have more of them running around.

Getting lots of bots onto a map is easy enough, there are plenty of mods out there that let you put a hundred bots onto your single-player map.

The problem is with larger maps. When a bot has to handle a new terrain, with a new layout of flags and new territory to cover, you have to program in a shitload of new pathfinding stuff, otherwise the bots won't have a clue how to get anywhere. To add in all the extra pathfinding to cover the maps above 16 player size would have involved an awful lot of work, so they didn't bother, as the game is primarily intended as a multi-player game anyway.

At least, that's my understanding of it. I'm not a programmer, so pathfinding might be easier than I've been lead to believe.

Actually the pathfinding isn't that great in 16 size either. If a bot bails and lands in the water it will just float there. When they fly choppers they just fly a straight path, one end of the map to the other. If pathfinding isn't the problem, it's making the bots smarter. Most the time they walk right past a transpot and continue walking half the map to the next flag. 64 size map would take forever.

I played single player for a couple of months, while sorting out my broadband set up, I've seen those dumb fuck bots do all sorts of stupid stuff.

What's really annoying about the helicopter thing is that if a bot gets to the chopper before you, he'll ignore your "Hey, I need a ride!"s and take off on his own, and spend the rest of the map flying to-and-fro, firing rockets. He won't get shot down, since none of the bots have any conception of how to use AA, so your only hope of getting that helo back is to shoot him down yourself, or hope he crashes (which isn't that unlikely...)

And don't let one of them get in a chopper beside you, either. They don't realise theres a TV missile available to them at all. I've been firing up single-player a bit recently to try and learn how to solo-TV from the Attack Helo's, so those dumb bots getting in beside me are really a pain in the ass. Having said that, I've no compunctions about TK'ing a bot

I still play SP once in a while, my g/f likes to take my net and hook it up to her laptop. I don't mind killing bots, just wish they were a little smarter. Bots flying an attack helo won't even attack u in your helo, u can fly right by and they don't do shit. It's nice seeing 100+ kills to 0 deaths though. lol

The bots will get out, if you spam the 'Bail Out' macro. If you get into the gunner seat, pressing F1 will switch spots too, so you can still tell them to get out.

And yes, tk'ing bots is hilarious.

What? In a Multiplayer server or in SP? In multiplayer that happens to me alot. Ill join a server then get 4 min worth of nothing happening, then get disconnected. It is so frustrating. Then I have to load all over again and sometimes that same thing happens.
