i had a microsoft intellli mouse explorer 3.0 and it was really great but then i needed some way of slowing down my mouse speed (there isn't any driver for ver. 3.0) so i bought my big brothers mouse the 4.0 and it's just great even through it's optic it works wonders with the drivers (in bf2142 you can slow the mouse speed down to 10% and it iliminates the sway of the sniper) but i want a g7 or something that assemble the fell of my current mouse (the g7 doesn't just to small in my hand) and still got on the fly sensitivity change.
So i got the side buttons working on my MS intell explore 3 (new drive download) -- theres 2, one is reload and one is map... which I always am bringin up....but now my click wheel doesnt work.. it seems the windows command for it eliminates BF2 controls.. which sux because that was my prone
and in the mouse button assigmnents in XP there isnt an option for 'none'... it blows... dropin to prone with that click wheel was ace..... any thougts on gettin it workin?
if not.. I'm sure its time to upgrade... so i hear the G5 is the way to go??

Either G5 (haven't tried it) Or an MX518 (as recommended with BF2 =p)
I used to have a Logitech Wingman USB gaming mouse, and I used to love it, I'd had it for about 6 years, and I knew how far it moved in a swing and could pwn CSS and BF2 with it.
Then I got the MX518.
It pwns. Simple as. I've never regretted getting it. It's smooth and accurate and has a load of buttons.

Regarding the G5.. how many buttons are on it.. meaning besides left, right and assuming the click wheel.. any other ones??
same for the MX518... how many buttons are on it i thought the 2 buttons near the wheel were bindable.. but i guess they are dpi adjustments....
im stuck between the 2.....

Basically, all of the buttons are bindable, you can chaneg the senitivity buttons in the SetPoint software that comes with it.
In total, there are 8 buttons. Two at the thumb, the Application switch button just under your middle finger's knuckle, The two sensitivity buttons are just behind and just infront of your middle finger and the mousweheel clicks.
I find the sensitivity buttons handy in only a few situations, but in those it works really well, i.e. For Sniping, you crank it down a bit (to 400 dpi) and for close fighting, and situations that need fast reactions, you crank it up (to 800 or 1600 dpi).
In the hand, it is comfortable and runs smoothy across most surfaces (apart from my desk, it has a lot of stab holes in it, it used to be a makeshift knife holder =p)
I heard a few people say that optical mice have a hard time reading what's under them if the mousemat is a very contrasting colour, never happened for me, I even tried a black and white striped one, and no bother with mine.
My MX518 only set me back about $45 and it was money well spent.
Best. Mouse. Evar.
PS: Two of my friends have Razers, one the Copperhead and one the Diamondback. I prefer the Copperhead, but I'd choose the MX518 over either of them anyday (as I did)
