ok, sometimes when i turn my computer on in the morning, it will get to the screen before the log in screen and then my moniter will shut down, forcing me to restart. When  restart, it says something went wrong with my computer, and offers me a load of options. If i run it normally, it crashes, but if i run it in safe mode, i can get into my computer. After i run it in safe mode, i restart it it works fine again, but then a few days later it does the same thing over again.

now, this type of thing has kind of happened before, but before i couldn't even get past the screen where you can choose to go to the BIOS screen. it turns out that my graphics card blew (ATI Radeon 9550) and it had to be replaced. this situation isn't exactly the same, so i was wondering if any of you had any help or advice for me? i'm thinking of ringing up where i got my computer and having a go at them for giving me shite graphic cards...

System Specs.

Intel pentium 4 cpu 3.20ghz (2 cpu's)
1024 mb of ram
ATI Radeon 9550, AGP, 256mb memory
um... what else should i give?

anyway, cheers,

The great Ninja believes it's overheating... Or you have a corrupt windows install... If you have a second hard drive, try that.

I would take the video card out on boot to onboard (if you have it). I think your video driver is hosed.

anyone have any video card suggestions, that are slightly affordable and decent (decent being bf2 worthy)?

Try a 7600GT for an affordable, good performance card, or a 78/900 GT for that extra Bang.

Reinstall your OS, update your drivers. This will eliminate any software issues. You might want to consider better topic titles that better explain your problem also.

All the ATI machines I've owned have had stability issues. It's probably a driver out of line, or like the ninja said, overheating. Although a 9000 serires shouldn't put out that much heat.
