Dive and shoot is no longer an insta-headshot. Jump and squat is no longer going to let you rack in the kills.
The transports aren't as nimble as the attack helos were in bf2, but they are certainly more maneuverable than the transports were. I think its more of a case that you are expecting them to handle like the blackhawk did, and they dont.
Try circle strafing a flag in the transport. Both guns can fire directly forward after all. And since people eject straight down in 2142 you dont have to worry about squishing them and racking up team kills.

Ok. I played the crap out of the beta, having assault fully unlocked, half of recon, and all the player abilities. Also I've played the demo. Its a dumbed down version of BF2.dracul wrote:

Your right about betas, they are there to help find problems and bugs to make the final release higher quality.SealTeam81 wrote:

Your wrong about demos. A demo is a finished version of the game, to help entice people to buy the game who maybe wouldn't of done.
We all complained about the disconnections in the beta, but it's still happening in the demo. That means it will happen in the final release. Thats unacceptable.

Demo = finished product with less features like maps, missions, single player mode etc.Its just a demo and betas that you have played. So how can you judge the game by just demos and betas?
I agree with most of the points.. My main gripe is with the changes to aiming/shooting; it seems an entirely random affair in 2142. The bobbing up and down and the huge cone of fire seems to be extremely nerfing to an experienced fps player and a god send to a new player (I wont say noob since we all were once, we all start somewhere). Barely any trained soldier in the world would have movement like that when they aimed.Masterstyle wrote:

Ive played the 2142 demo and it is not as fun as bf2. it is all vehicle and the damn sniper sucks.
Remember it is a different game. It isnt BF2, it is supposed to be futuristic. If it was just like BF2 peeps would be yellin git is just a mask, It is something different. I like futurist battles. A change is nice, you can only play karkland for so long

You couldn't be more wrong. Can an APC in Battlefield 2 transport? Absolutely and I use the APC to transport troops all the time. But they can also fight and defend themselves too? Since when has a game designer been required to lock a vehicle in to a single role? DICE failed to consider that a large chunk of the community is represented by jackasses and when you can instantly spawn inside someones vehicle it makes a simple task like repairing said vehicle a chore and a roll of the dice to whether you will lose it to some random spawner or not.tehmoogles wrote:

I'm not biased either. I love BF1942, I love BF2 and I've praised DICE for both games. At this point I play many games and that includes BF2 but I don't have a game I can really engross myself in. I had a good feeling that BF2142 was going to be an amazing game and I *really* wanted it to be awesome and new experience.
DICE has gone astray and it seems they have forgotten the winning formula that made their series so popular in the first place.

2142 could be good! they just fucking ruined the demo due to a lack of unlocks , You faking can get 2 to 3 unlocks just to make your player run faster for longer and recharge quicker then when you take off the hevery armour you can run most of the titan length

APC in BF2142 is quite diffrent than the one in BF2 because you have diffrent weapons and diffrent ways to use them.
APC:
The APC got a EMP grenade which will knock out ANY vehicle in the game leaving them TOTALLY defenceless, I suppose the grenade thing they have on the back which is somewhat hard to to use imo.
2 APC can keep a Mech out of work 24/7 if they want to. They just need to time their EMP. Though their minigun cannon don't seems to do sqwat on my Mech and 5-6 missle from the Mech can easily destroy the APC.
I don't know how much damage the grenade thing that spam out 3-4 grenades do but no one used it on me while I was in Mech.
I say that APC is not so worthless as some people think it is. Due to that one Mech can easily wipe out any tanks and other APC. Other Mechs are a bit harder but if you are good he's good as dead. And play as Enginer to because you seems to be able to repair the Mech full 2x times without running out of wrench points. Unlike in BF2.
Mech:
Lovely thing but their Miniguns that have the bullet size of a finger/hand or whatever should kill a player if he shoots rather close to him. I can tell you that you need to hit SPOT ON in order to kill a infantry and not only that you need to hit him a few times to. Like OMG. It's a FRIKING MECH vs Infantry. Give it some Splash damage at least because you'll end up covering the infantry in dust before he even is close to duying.
The Shield on this Mech is ok and only last for a small time which is understandable. I soloed in one of those Mech for a while and racked up a lot of points with it. I was againts APCs, Tanks, and one Mech. Along with infantry trying to hit me with missle. All missed.
It's powerfull untill you meet a guy who's good with something and that's something that will totally ruin your fun. But hey it's not suposed to be God vs mortals here.
The fast Buggy:
Man I love this car, first thing I pick in the start and drive away with it. So fast and got itself a powefull turret vs infatry and sadly no one seems to know how to kill it. I was on a hill for quite some time with it till some random noob jumped into it and instantly drove it into a sign just 10+ meters infront of me. Like wth.
But I pick Mech over this buggy thou. :3
Chopper:
I have seen some people flying in a circle around a base and totally rape it so it's kinda like the old chopper imo just harder to take down. Because I don't know if those miniguns on some cars and tanks are powerfull enough to take them down as those in BF2 on like the Jeep.
I never had much time to test these because I got TKed while waiting for it. Don't understand why because there where only 2 of us there and it would only mean more points to both of us.
Well as soon as he got back I TKed him while he was in the chopper. He TKed med again after that and I gave him another punnish which made the server kick him. :3 Owned.
I have yet to try it more and fly around with it but I still like the BF2 chopper more.
Railgun Turret:
Man this thing is lovely, it's hard to be taken out by snipers and such unless they are close to you.
You kill APC in 2 hits, Tanks in 2-3 hits, Mechs in 4-5 Hits And choppers in 3 hits. Not sure about transport but I guess it's about the same as Chopper.
But I wish it had somewhat slash damage because that huge cloud of dust usually mean it's doing some damage around it. It vs infantry on long distance you need to hit spot on otherwise you'll end up missing him. What's with them and not having Splash at all?
Can like only be taken out by tank/missle and other turret shells while miniguns are totally useless againts it for some reason. Snipers penetrate the window but Mech Miniguns don't wreck it apart Like come on.
It's not so easy to move around once you zoomed in and hitting fast flying choppers is kinda hard but fun if you do. :3
Anti Air Turret:
Doesn't seems to do ANY damage on anything else than air. I had one guy mauling me down with it while I was in Mech and he was aiming at the cockpit which seriously was anoying. Couldn't see shit during that time. Till his fire got overheated I somehow killed him with missle and such.
I have been in air during while being hit and they need to make the beeping sound much louder because for the moment a lot of things seems to beep but nothing happen. Then suddenly you are screwed and blown apart. You got no warning symbol what I know or at least I havn't found one. In BF2 you have a BIG RED symbol that noticied you about it.
Transport choppers:
Boy these can be fun to use but they need to give those Miniguns some splash damage to, it's the same with Mech on this one. Can't tell you how many times I have been shooting close to someone just to find out that he's alive after it. I mean I spend 6-7 seconds just firing LOADS of bullets into the same area and I might hit once or twice with it due to that the pilot can't hover with it. And I don't suck with aiming because I have the aim right on the target 90% of the time when flying in those choppers. Sure I kill some here and there but sometimes it's just unreal.
You rarely know if something is on your ass or if someone is just locking onto you.
Tanks:
The normal tank is just like the old except that it got zoom instead of minigun on secondary attack buttom.
It just makes teamwork a bigger option here though I'd say we won't see much of that. Seeing as a Chopper pilot won't share the gunner seat with me.
The hover tank is horrible imo and I won't be using it at all unless I need to. Or if I'm in the gunner seat.
Infantry:
Give these players longer sprint time because for the moment they are running 15+ Meters then they are exausted. Please let us at least sprint for 2x more than that.
Don't care much about jumping but they could make it easier to run up for certain things because once something is 20 cm tall you need to jump up on it. Kinda meh there.
Of all the weapons I played with I never belived the Support was THIS good. You got infinitive amount of Ammo along with a accuracy of a sniper while in full auto or short short bursting.
Though it takes some time to reach this accuracy and while running around normally and meating someone without support kit you are most likely gonna die. Why? Because their gun aim better at start unlike your gun which can't hit shit for the next 2-3 seconds.
Rockets are ok with the enginer. Sniper is just fine imo and gives it more skill to use.
Gonna play much more tomorrow :3 so I can try out the other things. But so far I love it but this is just the Demo and lots of things are going to change and I would love to have a IO mode here to.
Edit: Some of the commander things to.
The arty is lasting far longer than in BF2 but not sure if it's as deadly as in B2. It also launch more bullets to.
The Emp strike should land far faster than it does now because I have yet to see some commander put it out good.
Supply box is a tiny box that can stand those Mech bullets. :3 Gimme that kind of armor plox. Supply box was a lot more clearer in BF2 since it stood out so much, here it fits in with the suroundings like a charm. Which is not a good thing for you once you want to find it. XD

Thanks for the post planewhore, I have always benefited from your insights. I appreciate the multi uses of the apc/pod launcher and can only hope the player who is out driving around has the common sense to drive it to the titan when its time to board attack/defend...

Planetside have a montly fee, BF2 and BF2142 don't have one. But yea almost no other game allow that except Counter Strike Source though it might be 62 or 64 not sure which but I was on a server with that amount but it lagged the shit out my computer. All thou those servers are quite rare on my server browser.
This game plays more like Planetside than a Battlefield game... and that's a bad thing.
