Anyone experienced with this setup?

Im moving from my current pentium 930 to a conroe and it will have to be a 975x, so will look towards a different setup than the 7900GT's.  Definetly dont want to take a step back, but want to be about even after selling my cards.

Not too impressed with SLI in any game, doesnt seem all that faster than a single 7900gt.

Any recommendations?   Anyone here like the 1950?

Thanks in advance guys and gals,

It will need to be 775.
I have x1900 xtx and a 7950 GX2l. The 7950 performance is better in high resolution situations, otherwise the difference is not noticeable.

From what i heard, the X1950 and 7950 are on Par but at higher resolutions the 7950 wins

Thanks, i overlooked that thread.

Ill *think* ill go with the 1950xtx then.. Its a few FPS faster than the 1900, but still over $100 cheaper than a 7950gx2.. plus at least allows CF later if I want to go that route..

Is it true some games dont respond well to the onboard sli setup in the 7950GX2?

Still trying to find user reviews on the 1950 though.. not many out there.

the x1950 utilizes ddr4 memory and hence a lot faster.

Untrue. At most you are looking at only 3-4 fps over the x1900 xtx http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33872

faster doesn't mean more fps. memory is transferred faster hence things load quicker. ddr3 is quite fast, ddr4 is insane.

Picked up the bottom end x9150xtx.

They overclock like cake as so ive read.

Im sick of waiting for maps to load. Hopefully this, the E6300 @ 2.9ghz, and a couple raptors solve it.

Now only if ram would come down in price id pick up a ram drive for my page file.

7950 SLI hands down.  It will give you all the power you need and when some other taxing game comes out in the furture, you have the option to upgrade.

On the 7800 GT (not GTX): Therefore, what we have here is a GPU that has some of the same features as the GeForce 7800 GTX except that it has 20 pixel pipelines versus 24 and 7 vertex units versus 8. The GT’s core clock speed is running at 400MHz versus 430MHz on the GeForce 7800 GTX and the memory runs at 1GHz versus 1.2GHz on the GeForce 7800 GTX. With the pipeline reduction and clock speed reduction, the texel (fragment) fillrate goes to 8 GigaTexels/sec versus the GeForce 7800 GTX’s 10.3 GigaTexels/sec. What this means to gamers is simply that the GeForce 7800 GT is a slower version of the GeForce 7800 GTX.
