There is something that really pisses me off. Everyone knows Half Life (2), there you can shoot between each reloaded shell. But not in BF2. I love the DAO, but it is so annoying not being able to abort reloading with an enemy shooting you. Simply pressing [FIRE] should abort reloading. Sure you can switch to pistol and back, but this is no solution. One of the gameplay issues.
Seems like a solution to me.
works in the HALO series, too... there IS a way to interrupt reloading shotguns in bf2. you change weapons, then change back, and you can shoot the rounds you loaded up... kinda stupid,and you wil prolly be killed b4 you can change back, but it works.
No. That's not how the DAO works.
In CS or HL, the guns are semi-automatic 12 gauge shotguns or those auto-ahotties. You put the cartridges in the bottom where they are fed up the barrel.
The DAO has a removable 'clip' that has to be taken out, and reloaded before being put back in. If you only put one round in, it's going to be like playing russian roulette with only one chamber of the gun loaded. The Jackhammer has the same system.
The re-loading on the shotguns in Counter Strike and Half Life is unrealistic anyway. Does anyone bother to question how the guy is able to slip one of those cartidges in the gun and fire so quickly? Just bringing the gun up to aim has got to take some time, but these guys seem to do it in a split second.

AFAIK the Protecta has no clip, the Jackhammer has a clip which can be taken out. Protecta is a revolver styled weapon. There are no photos of its interieor, but if the designer was smart it should be possible to replace empty shells any time and abort reloading every time. So aborting reloading works only for DAO, Remington and the Chinese clone only.Tyferra wrote:

<edit>
The DAO12 (double action only) is called Striker. It uses a winding key and a spring to rotate/move the shells inside the cylinder. One can see the winding animation at the end of a reload.

But the point still stands that it's like playing russian roulette. Click away until you get the ones with the clips?
Well, how fast? I've seen people fire a pump-action shotgun like a Kalishnikov (a little slower), and reloading is admirable...Tyferra wrote:

Well, at least it's better than Modren Combat, there, you load one round, wait 2 sec, and you got 8 rounds loaded into your very acurate (at long range) shotgun...

That is pretty stupid.
AFAIK in the game the barrel rotates clockwise while it shots and couterclockwise while reloading empty shell spaces. But i do not know HOW it rotates backward. The Problem is: Im not sure if you can reload the RL Striker while the barrel is not complete empty. It works ingame. So abort reloading is no problem, IF you can reload a non empty barrel, i think. Perhaps i'll draw a picture later.polarbearz wrote:
