So when I did the Veterans thing, i wasn't able to register "GotMex?" because it had the '?' in it and it wasn't allowed. So I registered GotMex instead for my Veteran unlock. When I downloaded the demo and made a new name though, GotMex? was fine and I am using that name now.

So anyone know what the deal is? I feel like EA screwed me cause I already registered GotMex but it turns out now you can use special characters.

The demo doesn't record stats, so they dont have to worry about special characters FUBARing their databases. Thats the closest thing to an explanation I have heard.

Well my real question is, since I pre-ordered and did the Veterans program thing with the original GotMex name, I'm stuck with it now even though you can register names with special characters now right?

Who says you have to use your 'veteran' one? It just means you don't get that free unlock

No, you cant use special characters in the full retail version. "GotMex" is the closest you're going to get to "GotMex?". I e-mailed EA Customer Service (which is better than their tech support) when the demo first came out and I was having this problem too and they confirmed that their databases are different for the demo and the full version and that they are "not associated" with each other.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why they use different databases for Beta/Demo/Retail. I would imagine it'd be best to use the same one for testing purposes as well. Oh well, glad to know that GotMex? won't be able to be used and I'm not stuck with GotMex cause of some changes.
