I recommend " a brief history of everything" and " the hiram Key"

The first is..everything explained in laymans terms.
The second gives the history of the free masons, and as such it includeds interesting insights in the history of judasim and islam and christainity, and the death of the pharrows and their  gods.  * cant spell equiptian and my bf2s spell checker doesnt work

any of the revalation space series of books by alastair reynolds if your into sci fi books. Or anything from the black library. For those who dont know what that is, books written about he warhammer 40K universe. Freakin awesome, im telling you. Eisenhorn is a very good one by dan abnett

If you like Fantasy stuff, try Raymond E. Feist, start with Magician. If it's Sci-Fi, read the Dune books, or Iain M Banks, especially the culture stories.

Thoroughly agree with Hawk390 though about Dan Abnett's stuff. Eisenhorn and the Ravenor books are fantastic, but I think you need to be into the WH40K hobby to fully appreciate them.

Monsoon and Blue Horizon by Wilbur Smith are great books to read, really got into the story.  I dont think anything I could say would bring them justice, but if you get the chance, read them.

(They are in a series, so read Monsoon first, then Blue Horizon)

Are you talking about A Brief History of Time, by Stephen Hawking? That's a great book, and also the Universe in a Nutshell.
