I dont know how many of you know about this one, but if you fly a jet into a soldier parachuting, you blow up. You dont kill the soldier, you explode like you've hit an immovable object.

Now, I dont understand why this happens and why they didn't make it like a road kill.

Maybe there hasnt been enough complaints about this but it still should have been fixed a long time ago.

I challenge you to fly a jet into a parachute, (IRL), without crashing.

Think about it: You would both die.

And the cause of your death? A parahute...

Whos parachute? the parachutists...

Parachutist gets the kill.

well, don't fly into parachutes

it's jsut how the parachutes were made, i'm guessing there were made as normal statics, not much thought put into really. it is annoying yes, but surely it can't be so hard just to dodge the parachutes? it's not like the guys are trying to kill you that way, is it?

Lol i did that the other day,to a Captain.

The parachute is a magical object in BF2,you can stand on top of them and if you land on a soldier they die as it weighs 6 tonnes. It also is made of Titanium which is why it is so strong.

perhaps the parachute should wrap around the wing so we can drag the guy across the map behind the plane

The parachute is considered a vehicle, which is why it seems to be a solid object when deployed.

Just learn not to hit the parachute, but to hit the actual soldier.

It has only ever happened to me once (then I learned) I clocked an enemy parachuter on my left, flew my chopper into him thinking it would be like running over someone in a hummer, then KABOOM!

Those things are lethal!

If you are lined up enough to hit the guy anyway, why not shoot him with machine guns???  I mean, I know that jets were primarily designed to ram into things, but why not try to use the onboard weapons to take out a target every once-in-awhile.

yea the parachute is considered a vehicle and is "solid" in the game world.  pretty annoying and unrealistic if you ask me.  Same thing in BF2142 demo.  go figure.

I think that helmets should actually protect against bullets.  Mabe not all the time, because a 50cal to the head with or without a helmet would kill you either way.  Mabe they would only protect against certain weapons or be knocked off if they were  hit at the right angle like in that old N64 game Goldeneye.

Because it's not as cool as a road kill 200+ feet in the air.

Yeah, Worse than parachutes is supply crates lol. On a Wake Island server the other day I was in a jet... which I NEVER do. I was flying at exactly the level supply drops fabicate at... I bet you can guess where this is going. All of a sudden, out of NOWHERE a supply crate just appeared and I smacked it at like, 1000 mph lol. To top it off... my falling plane smacked a friendly Attack Helo, and I got kicked for the two TK's. So yeah, enemy commander PWNED me with a supply drop lol.

Its called FOD (Foreign Object Damage).

You can't seriously expect a 180 pound human with parachute to not do any damage on the aircrafts thin metal frame moving at 600+ mph.

Here is a picture of a Bird strike for context. See the damage done by a bird on the nose cone. Now imagine the damage done by a human... damn right you are going to blow up.
