Badhq, are you overclocking anything in your PC?  If so this is the place to start.  If you system gets to hot, there is a chance that it will crash (as in reboot) at random times.  Do you use an software that monitors the tempature of you CPU, RAM, and GPU?

I can not think of a program that does this off the top of my head, I know that Nvidia's Desktop software does just for the GPU.

Edit: Got a program that you may want to try.  I have not used the program myself, but a co-worker recommended it.

If you are looking at upgrading, i would suggest the following:
500 watt PSU
AMD 939 or AM2 Mobo with PCIE x16 (if you don't have a pci card get one. AGP is outdated)
AMD Athalon 64 4200X2
~ Do you not know that in the service … one must always choose the lesser of two weevils?

That is not hot for a CPU.  My GPU runs at 41 C alone.

So which one ? do I need to get them both or do I need to get new mobo ?

Is this the one I need ?

Boris, where do you plan on getting that Asrock mobo from because I have been tempted to get the socket 775 version but haven't been able to find it anywhere?

i would first turn off auto-restart in windows so that it gives you a BSOD when a error occurs. from the error code we can google what the problem is. also doing a couple of hours of prime95 and memtest 86+ will tell you if your cpu or mem (which is often the case) is faulty

EDIT: i agree that VIA chipsets suck badly. a nice nforce3 based board (maybe second hand) shouldnt be too expensive, if it turns out that the mobo is really to blame.

also is it possible that the gfx card went bad as you said that your pc restarts whenever you go into a game (3d mode). can you test the pc with a second gfx card?

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

yeah, sounds like a hardware issue, do a couple of prime95 and memtest runs.

usually this points towards wrong parts of ram being addressed. that would mean that either the ram is bad or is oced too far or the mem controller is whacko (ie the mobo is dead)
