If you dont have a joystick, i would recommend getting one, reasons why...
-Its easier to out manuver jets.
-If you get good enough youll kick a$$ in choppers. (but you wont be able to solo)
-Cause you feel more like a pilot when you put your aviators on ( )_ ( )
Well thats all i could think of in that moment of time while i was replying to your post, mainly its for jets, but some prefer to use them for choppers. I myself fly choppers with my mouse in pub's but when i have to ill use my joystick when i know i wont have to solo. its really up to you, and your view / prefernce on what you want to fly with. to my conclusion... Its only a real pay off with jets. if what i wrote was complete jiberish. let me know! im horrible with words, and im even worse at spelling / grammer. lol

learn to fly the chopper with mouse. joysticks are for jets. with the mouse, you can maneuver the heli more precise and thats, what matters.
it preference .... it wont make you a btter pilot ... only fast decision making can do that.
If you plan on doing a significant amount of flying either the jet OR helicopter, a joystick is money well spent in terms of game satisfaction yielded. I have a simple Saitek that cost like $20-25, and it's been great to me. My friend has a ton of pilot time in the helicopter and uses the mouse and keyboard, and he's told me many times that he wished he had bought a joystick earlier because it lets you do things you simply can't with just mouse & keyboard, and now he's too used to the standard way to switch.
If I had to choose between BF2 and my joystick, or BF2 and Special Forces, I'd pick vanilla BF2 and the joystick any day...it makes the aerial vehicles so much more intense and enjoyable to fly.
This is coming from an admitted chopper whore though, so take it as you will.

Well it depends. I think it is easier to learn to fly and learn how to fly with joistick. I used joistick back in Battlefield 1942 for flying apaches and planes so i use it in bf2.
Play for enjoyment = joystick
Play for pwnage = mouse
The mouse lines up all of your targets instantly, as where the joystick is very inaccurate. I've read consistently on these forums in the past that the best use the mouse.

Thx guys i guess ill try using a joystick with chopper and i already got a joystick and yes i use it in Jets and i own
Yeah, count me in the "use of joystick" category. Although my joystick is currently having issues (hence this thread: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=47892 )I must say that having a joystick is a MUST for jets.
