My girlfriend blows hot air all the time. When she starts yelling I just hold my case up by her face.

I use a compressor. Works great!

A dry paint brush - compressed air wont shift it all, especially the dust stuck onto the fanblades (which in the worst case create an unwelcome air vortex around the blades reducing its ability to pass air)

I often see PC's that are in desperate need of cleaning, and cleaning dust is VITAL, because dust can carry electricity (cause a short), is flamable, and can cause fans to clog up and stop or prevent decent airflow.
Normally, a simple bit of compressed air is enough to remove dust, sometimes I need to take a cuetip or a small paitbrush (for models) and clean off the dust. If it's REAL bad, I dismantle the fan, and WASH IT !

But in general, I never let it become a problem in my OWN PCs, I ensure correct airflow, dust and vacuum the room regularly, and I see no dust even after couple of years of operation.

Combination of both compressed air (for overall cleaning) and a gentle stroke from your brush for those that are stuck on your components. This should get you through.

Tips for cleaning:

Ground yourself and any object you stick into your rig.

Be careful using any vacuum, as the chips can be sucked loose.

Make sure you don't spin the fan blades with the compressed air.

Be delicate with usage of Q-tips, as the cotton head can catch  and tear on chip heads.

See rule on grounding again for importance!

I wouldn't mind it....

Tip: Easiest way is to buy a shotgun. Aim at your graphics card and shoot. Hopefully that will
1. fix your graphics card problems for the rest of your gaming life
2. Completely make your comp the best in the world
3. And get the dust off your fan.

I just take all of mine to the garage and blow them out with the air  from the compressor and a low pressure fitting.

tbh, compressed air is probably the easiest way to clean it all up, Only thing about using a vaccum is not being able to reach all the wee "nooks and crannies" [for want of a better phrase] And sucking out chips...

EDIT: When you take off your heatsink and fan, do you spread the thermal paste again?

I didn't do that on one of my PCs (Back when I was a n00b...) and it had some serious overheating problems, hitting 50 at Idle, and about 70 odd when it had been running CoD for a while...

BUy a childrens toothbrush.  It small enough to get into the fan blades and pull the dust right off.  Get a can off blow off to clean up.  Easy

Keep in mind that air compressors heat the air as it's compressed.  As the air cools, condensation creates water in the tank.  You can often see a fine mist of oily water coming out in the air stream.  Blow some air on a piece of glass or mirror just to make sure you are not spraying any moisture.

Just to be safe, make sure your system is unplugged and if you saw any mist during cleaning, wait a few hours before powering up your system.  Canned air is completely dry and not a problem, however you can't beat the higher PSI of a compressor.  Just be careful of any condensation mist.

I had to buy an air dryer for mine because the moisture kept burning out the tips in my plasma torch but that is completely overkill for blowing out your rig, just be careful and you'll be fine.

EDIT:  Forgot to mention, air compressors usually have a valve on the bottom of the tank for blowing off any water.  Make sure to open it for a few seconds before you proceed.

Hmm, problem is that pressure washers use water.... I know you're kidding.
