Cant install new patch 1.4

when i got bf2 my net was stuffed for a month so i got bored of it and just about a week ago my nets back
i havent done any patches on my bf2 and i reinstalled it but wen i click on the patch file nothing comes but its on my task manager. I tried downloading it from 2 sites both didnt work.

anyone help me pls

EDIT:do i need to install the past patches?

d/l the full 1.4 patch here. save it to the desktop. click the file and open it. WAIT. many ppl have reported that the full file takes several minutes to load...so be patient. go to the bathroom, have some wheat thins, etc. come back, and follow the on-screen instructions..

if this fails, you can yell at me later.

i rem wen i 1st tried to install the patch i got so inpatiant that i kept shuting down the task, cuz it just used to sit there and look at me, so i thought it had stopped, tried again and i got a phone call so i could not hit my ctl alt del button, and what do you know after about 5 mins of just saying patching please wait, (YER RIT) it stated to run, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, this is the year 2006 things should be fasterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
