I recently reformatted my hard drive and a fresh windows install as well and could not get the game to install.  It kept locking on FuShe Pass and would then ask to insert the second CD and then would tell me I would have to start over from the beginning.  I also have 2 separate copies of the game for 2 different cpu's and neither would install and both locked in the same place.
I never found a fix that would let me install.  The only thing that saved me was having it installed on a separate computer, so we removed the hard drive put it in my 1st pc and copied it over and copied the registry entries as well.   After we re-patched to 1.4 it worked but I have never been able to get it to reinstall since.
I hope you have better luck than I did.

Yeah, that would work only if I had it on another computer, I could prolly just copy the file over onto the new disk... But yeah, anyone know why this is showing up?

The 1st time I installed the game with no problem.  I had no harware changes between the reformat and reinstall so there should be no reason that I can see why the game would not install.

idk, did you do a quick format when you installed, or the full format? shouldnt matter but....

scince its a clean drive, there shouldnt be, but try doing the windows check for HDD errors.

are there any scratches on the CD? just a thought...your local video game shop may have a professional disk cleaner you can use for $1 or so.

had the same prob, what i did was un-install the game including registery, WWW.filehippo.com and look for cc-cleaner its a auto repair tool, cleans ya history and all ya registery, and its free.

2nd i re-started my pc in safe mode and installed the game(s) in safe mode, (PRESS F8 WHILST THE PC IS STARTING)
3rd i re-patched the game(s) in safe mode.......... takes a long while but its worth it...

if you think that the disc is screwed do the following...

1 put disc in drive and cancle the auto run wen it comes up on screen
2 make a file on your desk top and name it back up
3 open that file and place a new folder in there called disc1 WITH NO SPACE, thats should be all you need unless you have more then one disc with your bf2 game, if you have more just reapeat step three but name the disc2 and 3
4 go to START-MY COMP- and right click on your bf2 folder and explore, copy and paste all the you see there into disc1

if that works then your disc is fine and there is no problem with it....

(I DO SUGGEST TRYING ALL THAT IN SAFE MODE)

sorry if i am teaching you to suck eggs, but i am in-sure of what you have all ready done, best of luck mate
