Well I did search, and yes, I did update directx, and yes I have the stupid d3dx_29.dll in the system carpet...

And what do I have instead of a demo? Well a nice black screen !

Had the same problem. Download the file here: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-f … l?d3dx9_29
And put it with all your other .dll files in c:/WINDOWS/system32

It's called user error my friend. Try getting off the "I hate EA" bandwagon and use that brain of yours.

You didn't search and you didn't update directx because if you did the problem would be fixed.

Yes I did update, uninstal the kb917422 check the d3dx_29.dll... and I still have a black screen.... Oh, and I have also re-downloaded the demo, and re-re-re-re-instell it...

So, to all of you who think they are better than the others just because you managed to have the demo working F.U.C.K O.F.F !!!

First off, having the black screen dosent mean you are using the wrong dx9... that error should come up as soon as you double click on the icon.

hmm.... that gfx might be a bit on the low-medium side, but it should have a problem...

Trying to re-download....
It seems that I have a dx problem since the dx version doesn't show up in the DXdiag...
I now have dx version 0.0 (.0.00.0000.0.0000.0.) .... very odd...

if you have a genuine windows (Disclaimer) go directly to the microsoft site and download it from there

Well, after two days of installing and uninstalling and defrag and all, it works...

I don't really knowwhat was wrong, but uninstalling dx (tricky) and re-installing the full last version everything's fine now...

there is no excuse for that. a game developer with as much money as DICE/EA should bundle the correct direct x install with a game.

this could be the reason why my friends game is running like shit on a decent set up.

he has the april directx release..

it shouldnt be up to the average consumer to hunt down a .dll

this isnt 1998 folks...its time to get past that shit

i dealt with that kind of non sense then

Did you read the release info that EA posted???

they didnt want to increase the file size of the demo by including a DX9 version that you should have installed ether way... when the demo came out i didnt have that problem cause i kno better than to run out dated software that are full of bugs... i love it how people manage to find a way to always blame everything on EA...
