Anybody else think this thread is a car-crash waiting to happen? Im looking forward to some good reading.

By way of an Authors note: This reply is a very broad and somewhat flippant overview of my beliefs. Please note that I view the world from a fairly pragmatic viewpoint, there is no black & white, absolute truth is rare and some situations will lead to a negative outcome regardless. I.E. No opinion.  I believe there are biological reasons which cause women to stay at home more, and thus take a greater part of a child's upbringing. (Child birth, means they're out of the workforce for longer)

Touchy issue on all of these, I believe there are some situations in which it can help and that there are some in which it is unfair.  I believe it should be considered carefully on a case-by-case basis.

My beliefe is there should be no income tax up to a certain point, and then one flat rate from then on, to ensure everybody can afford a basic standard of living and to reward everyone for the obligations they as a citizen are expected to perform regardless of income.  Taxes are a form of helping the needy.

11. Do you believe in free medical care for all at the expense of the taxpayer?
If my country expects me to fight for it in times of need, it should look after me.  If ,my country expects me to be healthy and thus be able to hold down a tax-paying job, it should look after me.  I've recently had free medical care courtesy of the NZ taxpayer, incidently.

12. Do you believe in free education for all at the expense of the taxpayer (right through to university level)?
If my country expects me to fight for it in times of need, it should educated me.  If my country expects me to get a highly-paid job and thus pay more tax, it should give me any education necessary to do so.  About 75% of the cost of the education I'm receiving is subsidised by the NZ tax payer.  The rest is on a student loan, recently made interest-free by the Labour party, cheers Helen

About as effectively as the 'war on drugs'.  I believe there is way too much military action taking place.  That is not to say that all military action related to anti-terrorism activities is bad, just that theres currently too much.  I don't support Iraq, but believe there was some justification for going into Afghanistan.

Provided they aren't harmed unnecessarily.

As a terrorist, yes, go ahead.  There is evidence that caused the terrorist to be imprisoned so he should be held.  I don't care how long he has to sit there.  He does not have the courage to fight with a uniform or under the sovereign government of a nation, therefore he should not be given rights accorded to captured soldiers.  Charges and a trial will come after we eliminate the rest of the threat posed by the other terrorists.

Do you believe in the theory of evolution?  Yes and no.  First, evolution cannot answer the question of our origins because it cannot answer how the matter that exploded in the Big Bang came to exist.  It could not come to exist without an outside force creating it and acting upon it.  Second, the irreducible complexity in microbiology also shows evolution cannot explain our origins.  Without all the proper building blocks in place simultaneously biological organisms cannot exist.  They either have all that's necessary or they die.  There's no time to evolve.  Third, there is no evidence that species change from one species to another.  Lastly, all species adapt to their surroundings, so in that sense I believe in evolution.  They just don't change species when they adapt.

Putting protectionism and isolationism together is like grouping patriotism and extreme forms of nationalism. For a couple of examples, I believe in placing restrictions on sell-outs of entire domestic industrial communities to a foreign nations. I believe in being picky about alliances and international treaties.

In either case, attacks upon demilitarized (insomuch as important military supplies and personnel have been removed from) civilians, contractors, schools, businesses and public utility is inacceptable, and detrimental to your homeland.

And guerilla fighting itself? Well...war's hell.
