These things certainly do suck. Can't even move it till you shoot. It's really hard to aim. You don't even kill the things you do hit in one shot.
The normal rockets are crap as well, they're really weak, and you can't kill troops with them, cos they have little splash damage.
Its the driver, not the gunner. When the pilot decides to actually steady and not be the main gunner the tv missle is devastating, I think alot of BF2 Pilots think they can do what they did in BF2 and BF2:V and then blame the gunner. Everything is fast in 2142, so pilots slow it down and let the gunner gun.
The TV missles Suck. Period.
the tv missles own. I think they are pretty easy to guide....
Get on a empty server and take the chopper, land it on a edge somewhere, switch seets and practise.
Trick is to send it in right direction in the first sec when its accelerating. Than let it fly with out stearing and than when your over the target swing the mouse up (or down) like crazy. If you stear it while at full speed youll prbably loose control.

Someone make a video of it "pwning" then...
I lag enough when playing 2142...I don't need fraps lagging me moreLT.Victim wrote:

and it's hard to find a good pilot in a pub server.
100% correctLT.Victim wrote:

I have piloted the Doragon. It rocks. Missiles are weak but they lock on to air targets automatically.
I have been laughing at my gunner for the horrible 18 meter circle that the missile makes before hitting sumthing.
No more solo t.v. I tryed that yesterday and the chopper just falls straight down.
I bound my joystick to use the TV missiles. Oh my Fucking God.
I hit the flies off the top of Mechs.

Hm.. you might be onto something stryyker..stryyker wrote:

The missle do fly more like a Jet then clicking and shooting..
Care to show how?stryyker wrote:

ok.
Trigger-fire
Axis one (up down)-up and down
axis two (left right)-left and right
axis three (twist)- lower sensitivity left and right (deadzones increased)
and i also bound the main gun for it, as well.
It sounds wierd, but oh god it feels so natural

So.... you bind these for the air vehicles control?stryyker wrote:

In BF2 the TV missile wasn't under any category at all, so I wasn't sure.
yes, and then i have a little switch on my throttle to change profiles if i need.MadKatter wrote:

basically, spend an hour or two perfecting herr technique
Okay the Missiles on the gunships cool they lock on. Problem is once they reach the target they veer off. Really kind of annoying. Didn't matter what I was shooting right before they got to anything that would cause them to explode they would veer off.
I haven't tried the TV guided missiles yet because anyone who flies the gunship takes off w/o waiting for a gunner (sad).

Okay, if I had offered the money, I'd say i'd pony up to Stryyker. I just did the binds and it makes a world of difference.stryyker wrote:

Loads easier to control with a joystick. Since I fly with a joystick, it's very easy to adapt.
I just had to register in and Thank Stryyker for the advice.
i feel special now ^_^Incoming_Fire wrote:

I agree. Every time I've tried getting into the gunner seat in 2142 the pilot's too busy trying to rack up his own kills to bother to listen to me no matter how many times or ways I ask him to keep steady.imdead wrote:

The main missiles rock though.
thanks for the advice stryyker it works well just gonna have to practice, all though i would rather pilot and let a good gunner take everything out. i just like flyin so if anyone ever needs a good pilot you know where to find me....

i find the missle ok i have got pretty sweet with it... just one thing that lets it down i its weakness
Also still goes threw shit... :GRRRR

ill see his 20 bucks and raise you a beer... if you can actually fly those damn things... wow lol :X
It can be done, but the pilot and the gunner have to have good communication. The pilot needs to line the gunner up virtuall dead on. I have had my buddies on Team Speak gun for me and we have been able to nail quite a few walkers and tanks with the TV missile.
The few times that I have gunned I have found that, for some reason, keeping my crosshairs on the target and clicking my mouse button a couple of times seems to stabalize the missile a little better. I would say that clicking the mouse button only gratifies me, but a couple of my buddies have said the same thing. It appears to stabalize it slightly more, but it could be just a mental thing.
The missile alone will not take out a walker, however one missle hit and then a volley of rockets from the pilot will. So understand that this is team orientated flyer. No more solo flying. A good 2 man team will rack up some major kills with these things.
