IF the console is as it has been announced, its going to be awesome. but they are having heat probs with their cell (with about everything...) and no one really knows if the console is going to be as good as it is supposed to be. Plus, I think the price of the console will be 500, which is, no need to be said, pretty expensive for a console with the games presented so far...

I put off on getting a 360 until September of this year and as far as I'm concerned it is a great machine. Not all games are great, but it's got it's gems (GRAW for starters, Gears of War, Lost Planet upcoming). No regrets at all.
That being said, it is pretty much guaranteed I am getting a PS3.

Microsoft made a big mistake sticking to HD DVD and not using BluRay, The next 5-6 years will see normal DVD become obsolete with BluRay becoming the standard in media storage, Prices for dual layer BluRay disks will drop giving game developers more space to utilise when making a game.

Plus, Halo 3 ain't got shit on MGS4. I may sound like a Sony fanboy, but I've owned a gamecube, 64 dreamcast and and xbox. The playstation just does a lot more for me than the xbox.

Me personally, I would buy the PS3, because they use BD-ROM, which has the capability of ten DVD's or something of that nature. So with that being said I think they will have room to expand and then create really big, really kick ass games.

First one out in the UK is set to be £1,000 or so (from what i've searched), so ~£550 (if i was eager enough to buy on release) on a ps3 for blu-ray is worth it; with the added bonus of shiny games. Plus a 360 wouldn't match my TV.

I'm gunna wait and see. which High Def format will come out on top? First gen PS3 may get hot, some kind of recall isn't beyond imagination, or some kind of room temperature recommendations. It could get ugly or the PS3 could completely curb stomp Microsoft, and be the greatest console ever. They don't have GTA exclusively and I think that's gunna hurt. I wouldn't pre-order anything yet.

Safe bet is to get the Xbox 360 because:
A. Sony has never won in the media department(UMD, Beta, mini discs)
B. If the company can't make the parts, what chance do you have if something breaks and needs replacing?
C. The 360 can change from the external HD-DVD to a Blu Ray option if the market changes
C2. It will be a cold day in hell before SONY puts out a HD-DVD drive.
D. If Blu Ray fails(which is highly probably given that High Def Porn will be on HD-DVD) the prices of PS3 games aren't going to fall from the expected $65-75 price tag
E. Banjo Kazooie 3 is an XBox 360 exclusive title.
