Me? I'll put together a new system to go with Vista, and keep my current one for 98/XP use.

I've always been open to whatever components are the best at the time of purchase, but I'm definately going with an X-Fi soundcard, a new monitor and speaker (or at least some new headphones) system, and a network card with it's own processor.

Q1/2 '08 unfortunately. My wife has promised our son a new computer if he passes all of his exams next year so I'vee got to wait until after that.

But, as a very wise man said to me the other day, imagine what's gonna be available by then. Quad core, high end DX10 cards, next generation of HDDs.

Can't wait.

I go in odd cycles, couple months ago i changed proc/mobo/memory and video card. Next changeup will involve new drive structure, more memory, possibly a soundcard (not sure if its worth it). Never everything all @once.

Got to wait until the car's MOT test in March, then I can start thinking about computer upgrades.  At least then the whole Vista/DX10 stuff will be worked out (hopefully) and I can look at a whole system approach.

Need a new mobo, cpu, ram and graphics card.  New case would be nice.  Got a decent psu, sound card and hard disks.

I just completed my 1st major upgrade in 3 years. Went from:

Abit NF7-S V2.0
Athlon XP 2400+
GeForce 6600

To:

Abit KN8-SLi
A64 3700+ San Diego
BFG 7600GT

The only other upgrades I plan on doing anytime soon are a new 250GB SATAII HD and 2 x 1GB RAM.

Probably Q2/3 of 2007. My current Rig should be fine till then, when I can afford to do something. Probably just upgrade this one with more RAM, Faster CPU, More HDD Space and a DX10 Card.

Right now I haven't found much that a 3200+, 7800GT, and 2GB of RAM can't run acceptably.

Q1/Q2 '07.

I'm planning to dump my FX60 and jump on the Core 2 Duo bandwagon (though by that time I'll probably be looking at a quad core Kentsfield).  It's possible that AMD will pull something out of their hat between now and then but I highly doubt they will have any performance leaders on the market during '07.

I'm also planning to dump the X1900XT in favor of DX10 and ATI R600 (at least on the surface, it looks like R600 stands a good chance of outperforming Nvidia this time around) otherwise I'll go with a G80.  By then it will be clear who has the lead in the GPU race.

As far as Vista goes, I'm planning to upgrade immediately once it's out.
