Okay, so for you guys with ATI cards, you know you can go into the and edit things like anti-aliasing and performance vs. quality. Since my card sucks, I have the bars slid to performance instead of quality. Do I need to keep the catalyst control center open while playing BF2 for the performance factor to take place? I don't know if this makes sense, if it doesn't I'll rephrase it.

Get the Latest version of ATI Tray Tools. It has A version Of ATI Overdrive Plus its own overclocking utility. Its Auto or manual.doc. josh wrote:

Ok If you have a Higher card than a 9250, Please goto this link and download these custom drivers. When installing them Install them Useing the Performance option when asked. Your game will rock. This person uses the old style control panel and it is far faster than that bloated CCC that ATI uses and it doesnt require .Net framework and a ton of system resources to use your drivers. Also, Google a program called Drivercleaner3, use it to clean up your ATI driver Uninstall. Make sure(this is IMPORTANT!) That After you uninstall the ATI drivers and use driver cleaner, you Disconnect your internet connection. Reboot after uninstalling drivers, (with internet dissconnected, and when windows pops up to try install drivers, cancell it every time till it says "problem installing new hardware". Close box. Install the custom drivers On performance Insatll, REHOOK internet connection and reboot. All set. Reason you unhook the internet is because windows will update the driver when you reboot after uninstalling, thus installing an ATI driver that you will have to over write, making things sometimes give you trouble. so better to not have internet connected until you get your new drivers installed.ryan_14 wrote:

Now, For AA And AF settings, Make sure you use Application controlled, And set those settings in the BF2 game to off. Leave everything else alone, because if you chose the performance install, the driver will already be optimized for the fastest performance already.

If you get the driver i posted in the post above, it comes with a custom version of the ATI tray tools you can choose to install.
And YES the control Panel makes ALL the difference in the worlsd in your vidio card. One thing though, If you use Tray tools, make sure in control panel options, you turn off the option to show the tray Icon. Set tray tools to show instead in tray tools preferences, this way all settings changed with tray tools will take effect overriding control panel.
