I currently have a Razer Diamondback Plasma. It is good but I'm not that into the shape of it.

So which model should I go for?

Personnaly I like the G5, some prefer the extra thumb button on the MX518, I prefer the extra senstivity.

speaking of that mouse, i picked up a Bf2 headset for $10, sweet deal and nice quality, logitech btw.

back on topic, MX518, or G5, they'll take a little getting used to though. I'd suggest you don't game for a week (i know it's long but it's part of the transition), then go all out for a couple days and it'll feel like you've been using it forever.

Logitech Mx518 owns.. Great handling and can change sensitivity with a push of the mouse buttom. 2 additional side buttons, works great for me.

Recently I bought MX Revolution, I was using MX 1000 before. In my opinion, this mouse is very precise and does its job. Also, there is a thumb rest so that you can rest your thumb on the mouse instead of having to grab it all the time so that you can use it for longer periods of time.

Also, the free scroll ability that it has is amazing when in use for web-surfing and document writing or editing, even though I wouldn't recommend that mode for gaming. On top of that you can switch freely between free-scroll and click-scroll whenever you want so there wouldn't be any penalty for having the free-scroll ability.

I've went from: MX1000 -> Razer Diamondback -> G5

I must say that the G5 is by far the best gaming mouse I've used. I liked the feel of the mx1000 for regular PC use, though it wasn't good for gaming sensitivity. The diamondback was lightweight, had lots of buttons, and on the fly sensitivity settings between 1-10., but it wasn't that all accurate. The G5 however is the most accurate mouse I've ever used, great for gaming. Sacrifices the extra buttons and only has 5 settings for sensitivity but overall is the best.

MX518 - the extra button on the is really REALLY handy - ok so it doesnt have a 2K+ dpi but who cares really?? I mean who can control a mouse @ 2K dpi? not me

Yeah, I find the razers too long in my hand.

The MS intellimice are a better fit but I have a heap of those already, and I want something a bit more pucker.

Thanks for all the opinions and votes - I'm going to get a G5 ordered up tomorrow.

If it doesn't work out, I'll ebay it and try the 518 :-)
