Will EA shut BF2 down?

Well, at least, will they shut the stats sytem down in the not-too-distant future?

2142 is their TOP priority, and a stats system like the one for BF2 and 2142 undoubtedly costs a fair bit to run.

I hope not, and I hoesntly can't see it happening. Yet.

You got to remember m8 alot of clans paye 3 to 6 months in advance for there ranked servers so i cant see it being anytime soon.

Aslong as EA has people buying the slots to sell us the gaming community they wont shut down the ranking system soon imho .

No they wont -cant remember where I read it but it was only a couple of weeks ago and it was from a dice person, im sure google knows where it is, anyway it was saying that bf2 stats are not going to disappear anytime soon.

i like my stats. i worked hard for them. and they shouldnt really delete them because thats why im still interested in the game.

How much could it possibly cost to have the stats servers for BF2 running? This is not expensive really, I don't see why EA would decide to shut down those servers. And the ranked servers pay for themselves. I'm sure EA makes a nice amount of money from there. So no, BF2 won't be shut down in the near future.

I don't think that they will shut down the servers anytime soon, but if they do they should:
1. At least have the decency to release a patch that allows people to run servers on their own (like bf:v and 1942)
2. In that same patch, make it so that all the unlocks are available in SP and MP.

People still play 1942 and 2142 is coming out. No, BF2 will live on. Though I could care less about stats. I've got all the unlocks I want and that gameplay is still fun with a good squad.

I hope they shut it down one day without telling anyone in advance, or even better, they screw something up, and loose all the stats by accident.

Like the time a few months ago, when everyone thought their stats could be gone, that was the hardest I have ever laughed on the BF2s forums.

"WHERE R MY STATS!!11 i logged in and liek diddnt see them so i woz liek wtf? and it was all liek ur a private, so anyway i took a picture of my stats so i can send it to EA n stuff"

There were 4-5 new posts like that every few minutes.

u can run servers on ur own- but u need a 1337 internet connection and comp
and it has to be a dedicated server, so u cant play while hosting.

And toss in some things that are missing, like No Vehicles mode for co-op. There's no reason why that shouldn't be included already.

But honestly, I have no faith in EA's customer support and I'm pretty sure 1.4 will be the last patch.

Your right there m8 take a 16 slot server cost about 25 pounds a month

theres about a 1000 ranked servers online all different sizes but iam useing this as a example :-

so £25 x 1000 servers = £25,000 a month

£300000 a year

no way is EA going to give up running ranked servers just yet lads
