Personally, I think it's kind of stupid.  Since you can only leave positive Karma why not just leave the comment in the thread so everyone can benefit from your response.  You appreciate what was said - tips, hints, insight - great.  Share with all. 

Plus, I only can devote myself to ONE stupid meaningless endeavor and that is my BF2 score.  I can't worry about Karma.  We must have karmawhores on this site or there wouldn't be so many threads about "STOP ASKING FOR KARMA".

So, in short, I just don't think its as cool as most people think on this site.  I could very well be missing something.  At 12 karma, maybe I don't get it until I hit 50 or 500 or whatever.  But I'm curious if my impression is actually the norm or if I'm just a clueless moron.

I fully expect to be flamed crispy crunchy so fire away.

Karma sucks. I did enjoy watching the karma of jackasses on the forum drop literally minute by minute until they got banned though.

I agree - its fun to offer tips that help other players along.  I guess the other thing thats cool about karma is that you basically get an index of the karma'd items you submitted.  So that's one thing....

Because we have had hundreds of Karma threads it is now an unwritten rule to close on sight.
For clarification, it is a virtual high-five sytem 'awarded' to people who have made helpful, funny or otherwise entertaining posts. It may be a useless number but it has been proven to create a tighter-knit community.
