~2GB of DDR2 RAM (not sure which brand or spec to go with. Will make sure their mathcing though)

~A compatable mobo (dunno which) £100-£140 max for mobo

~And Case + PSU

These are the components I will need. The rest will be scavenged off my old rig, dvd drive, hdd, ect...

Tell me how this looks? Give recommendations? How long will it be future proof for? What kinda FPS could I expect in BF2/2142?

Total Budget is about £700 and even thats pushing it.

Ok this is the MAIN question I should really have asked.

Will it play BF2/2142 maxed out on high and give a good FPS?

sorry for this but

it will piss all over BF2142 i would look more at crysis for next year mate

i have the same set up but i have a intel 3.4 same ram 667-DDR2 and graphics X850XT it maxs out BF2142 with X6AA averaging a 98 FPS highest i seen it in arty 112

seeing as the rig you are looking at is basically the same as mine (yes i know 939 opterons aren't the same as a am2 x2, but the performance difference is minimal): yes that will play all high. a bit less than 100fps average on bf2, a bit less on 2142 (also i dunno how optimized the code was in the beta and demo, still a day to go until EAD unlocks the full version).

make sure you get fast (800MHz) and low latency (CAS 3 is what you should be looking at. AMD hate high latencys).

also a conroe is a better choice, but you might need an amd due to reasons that i dont understand.
