BF2S Forums 2142 installation error.

I have no idea....mabye uninstalling the demo would do something?

The Disc they sent me. Put in the computer , followed the steps....boom error.

There are few very minor scratches which is odd for a new disc but not anything that would cause this I think. And yes iv been trying for about an hour now, everything from restarts of the computer to closing all other Unnecessary computer applications running.

Reboot your PC, then try reinstalling it to see if that works.  If not contact EA.

I)Then I suggest you follow these steps for uninstalling any previous versions of bf2142 and installing on the C drive:

1. Uninstall bf2142 from the Control Panel (in case there was a part of the installation that went through or if you have any previous versions of quicken installed).
a) Open the Control Panel (select Start > Settings > Control Panel).
b) Select Add/Remove Programs.
c) Find Quicken in the list of programs.
d) Click Change/Remove next to the bf2142 icon to uninstall bf2142.
Note: if you have multiple versions of bf2142 on your computer (i.e. there is more than one bf2142 in the Add/Remove Programs list), uninstall all versions starting with the most recent and working backwards.

2. Create a new folder on the c:/drive.
a) Open My Computer
b) Open C: drive
c) Go to File > New > Folder. Name the new folder Quicken Install.

3. Install bf2142
a) Insert the bf2142 CD or double-click on the downloaded program file to begin installation.
b) After the License Agreement, you will be asked to choose the type of installation: Express or Custom. Select Custom.
c) Choose the bf2142 Install folder as the destination location for the program installation. Follow the steps indicated on the screen to finish the installation.

II)If this does not work then I suggest you try installing in selective mode. Use the following steps to restart your computer in Selective Startup Mode, and then install bf2142:

1. Click the Microsoft® Windows® Start button, and then choose Run.

2. In the Open field, type MSCONFIG, and then click OK.

3. Click the General tab, and then choose Selective Startup.

4. Select Load System Services.

5. On the Services tab, be sure that Hide all Microsoft Services is not selected.

6. Click Disable all to clear all selected services.

7. Select Windows installer, and then click OK.

8. Click Restart when prompted, "You must restart your computer for some of the changes made by the system configuration utility to take effect."

9. Run the bf2142 installation from the CD-ROM. The Quicken installation should start automatically after placing the bf2142 installation CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. If it does not:
a. Double-click the My Computer icon on the Microsoft® Windows® desktop.
b. In the My Computer window, select the CD-ROM drive. This will have a label such as ____ indicating the bf2142 program disc.
c. Double-click the file named Install.exe (or Install) to begin the bf2142 installation.
d. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

10. After installing, complete the following steps to revert your system to its previous configuration:

13. Click the General tab, and then choose Normal Startup.

It sounds like you have a corrupted download. Try redownloading the setup file and running it again.
