Small Number of Video iPods Shipped With Windows Virus.

We recently discovered that a small number - less than 1% - of the Video iPods available for purchase after September 12, 2006, left our contract manufacturer carrying the Windows RavMonE.exe virus. This known virus affects only Windows computers, and up to date anti-virus software which is included with most Windows computers should detect and remove it. So far we have seen less than 25 reports concerning this problem. The iPod nano, iPod shuffle and Mac OS X are not affected, and all Video iPods now shipping are virus free. As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it.

Mac OS X are not affected

I don't need an IPod and Mac is not good for gaming. Hence, I will never own either one. I'd rather have solid AV and gaming ability, than no potential for viruses and no gaming.

how did a virus end up getting introduced during the manufacturing processes? my guess, MAC put it there so they could prove that their system is safer(for reasons leading to the pc vs mac war), yet it was written for windows and not MAC...

Good point. I was thinking how it would be possible to build manufacture a product that gets a virus that you apparently did not know anything about, especially since it only affects windows. They seem very desperate, I think microsoft should retaliate and make something like an ipod and they brain wash you to spend $300 a simple mp3 player. I would rather stick to Sanyo and other companies where they are half the price.

Now I hate Apple even more than I did before.
