Me too. I've never heard any so far.
Evidently this is still a new topic for some, so just search for "taunt" or "sinister" and you'll find the big threads about this. It's just 3 different versions of a mocking/sinister laugh that you can summon on command at a dead enemy.

Taunts have nothing to do with 2142! How the hell can it? how does having the files for 2142 effect Bf2 files? They don't exactly jump from folder to folder and change how it works.
The sinister laugh/taunts are sound files that are included in the BF 1.4 patch. So anyone who's using v1.4 can HEAR these taunts when invoked by other players. Again for emphasis, EVERYONE CAN HEAR THE TAUNTS. The question is what program installations/registrations allow you to invoke them? And it DOES involve BF2142 in at least a limited way.
Taken from EA's Support site: "The promotional taunt is used in Battlefield 2 but requires that Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 to be installed. Simply use the Spot command on a dead enemy and the taunt can be heard. The rules for how often it can be used are governed by the server’s radio spam settings in the same manner as all player messages. So if you do not hear it every time, this may be the reason why." --

Back to the original question, it appears that EA is possibly mistaken in that players who do NOT have BF2142 installed are in face able to INVOKE the taunts just by registering for the Veteran's program:
