Well I got my systems tweaked a little and most of my playing issues are gone.  Yea!!  Well not so fast.  I get this link today about a new concern from EA.

Apparently the new patch makes my system vulnerable to attack, my guess would be from IGA.  Hey does anyone remember the movie "The Net" with Sandra Bullock?  The security company was creating viruses in order to sell their software?  Seems like EA created a software to that IGA could sell out information.  Collusion is what I call it.  Now we have a game that is stealing our information and making our systems unsafe to be connected to the Internet. 

I think I need to do some kind of port scanning on my machine to make sure teh game behaves.

I do not know about the rest of you but this is definitely a love hate relationship.  I love the game hate the company.  Desert Combat is really sounding good right about now.

Also, I don't beleive that some hackers will actually spend their time in order to break into random gamer's PC. There is no huge database, or money operations, or something that is worth hacking.

Or you could just download the hotfix that corrects the problem that the security patch caused....

to be brutally honest, my ports oerate in stealth mode ANYWAY, as far as I can rememeber. i'd like to see some game patch change that.

The PC itself is worth getting hacked. It can be used in a zombie network for spam relaying or DDOS attacks.

Yeah I agree, they can use your PC for zombing but it's much more productive to hack PCs that are connected to LAN also...
But hey, you never know...
Anyway, I beleive that EA /(others) insert ads in order to get some sort of a business profit, so I don't think that they will get rid of them. Just an opinion.

That critical windows patch was bugged. Microsoft released a new patch to address this.

Microsoft's fault

After you apply security update 917422, programs that limit the application stack size to 2,048 bytes might not run. You do not receive any error message when this problem occurs.
