exactly. ive actually earned my veteren repair on wake but i think i lost the connection so i never got the award. after that i tried a couple of more times without so much as 5 or 6 points all up, ended up frustrated so i just gave up.Toonces7 wrote:
Not to mention the chance to actually repair is limited to damaged team assets or tanks, so the actual opportunity to repair is severly dependent on the enemy blowing them up first, which some rounds just doesn't happen.

I got my vet repair badge on CleanSweep on the USMC side. Getting 10 is easy if you concentrate on it. 20 is a lot harder. It takes a little luck, a lot of determined people to damage or blow up stuff you can repair, and some time.
It would help if people would stay in a damage Stinger/Tow launcher while you repair it. Those you can repair fairly quickly and 2 of them at 15% health = 1.5 repair points in less time to get 1 pt for repairing a fully destroyed commander asset.
Not that anyone thinks of that.

i noticed alot of peoples' "pph" status is under 10 for an hour????....wtf....that would be impossible to even get any medal at all. ok,maybe basic, but after, that would be something major to accomplish.
as stated earlier, you get veteran repair when you get 10 points, if you get less points in an HOUR than 10. how the heck would you get anything at all if you play for a whole HOUR and in each round only getting 3-7 points??
i like the idea of placing "tool bags/crates" but NOT while fighting in open territory. how about at just the asset sites only and would work only for the assets.
-OR-
give us "little" tool bags like the size of the medic or support which can't be used by the enemy vehicles/tanks etc. but only by your team.
btw, i have yet to pick up an enemy ammo bag or health bag to resupply
-OR-
give 2 points per artty mast and 1.5 points per uav or command trailer
i agree with most of you though about the engy not getting points fast enough and it's true.
i can repair a jet in less time than it takes to repair an artty mast and use it to do alot more damage.
also, i've noticed when the artty is "destroyed", i have to repair a WHOLE line of bars BEFORE i start getting ANY points and actually start repairing at all. (i don't know if this is set up like this on some servers but sometime it takes one crank of wrench to bring them out of limbo) 2 points for THIS crap is well worth the time cranking away at nothing.
and to the person who said an Engineer should be attacking the enemy is nuts. you're an engineer, NOT ASSAULT.

You probably have picked up an enemy ammo bag with out realizing it. The same goes for enemy med packs.SOUPisPOWA wrote:

If you don't believe me. Get a buddy to go support in a server where the game has not started yet. Have him go to the opposite team and throw down a couple of bags. Toss a grenade and then run over a bag you saw him throw down. Look at your grenades, you will see you have the maximum number back.
That's off topic, I know, but I was replying to your comments about points.
To get the 20 repair points you need one or two dedicated spec ops guys to blow up commander's toys.
Warlord is the best map for me to get a lot of repair points. The other day, one of my teammates got 21 and I had 17 at the end of a long round on Warlord. I wasn't trying until the spec ops guy said aren't you tired of having to repair that stuff? I told him keep going I need 20 iar.
Gotta agreea bit with turtle.
While I'm NO WHERE NEAR abandoning the thoughts of my original post on this subject (go to page 3 to read it), people ARE now beginning to blow assets a LOT more frequently with the cartillery of assets gone. So you can now either:
* Wait by assets: BTW; if you continually kill the spec ops, he might give up eventually, remember to let him kill YOU once in a while, or let him run off. DO NOT kill him every time or he WILL abandon his "quest". While it's not very nice to your teammates, let him run off with one of your cars, tanks or whatever you have at your main spawn, he'll feel like a GOD for doing so, and WILL come back !
* Taunt your enemy to blow the assets: Say stuff like "bwahaha, I just killed your spec ops before he could blow anything, LOOSERS !", or "Is that the best you can do ? You forgot to blow the last two arty pieces !"
* Use reverse pshycology on the kids: Yes, believe it or not, the majority of the players ARE kids, so you can easily goad them into blowing your assets by saying stuff like: "come on, play fair, leave our assets alone", or "f*cking STOP blowing up our UAV, it's shit annoying, and you SUCK for doing it !"
* Do NOT employ tactics #2 and #3 at the same time.
* Follow the tank around, it WILL get shot at, so you can get a few points this way. Once an asset is blown, HAUL ASS back to it and start reparing. Remember #1

I finally got my expert repair badge. I got it on a long round on Karkand. I followed our tank around with the APC. fortunately the Tank protected me from the AT guys and I was able to repair the tank. I ended up with 24 at the end of the round.
@ Twist and Turtle: quite encouraging to read your posts here !
I gave up on trying for the expert repair badge once the "cartillary" was introduced. Also thought it could only be done on some SF map (which i dont have).
With an average of 5 repair points an hour, i ruled out the possiblity of earning that badge fair and square.
I might give it another go now on some loooong Karkand, Zatar, Wake or Dragon map.
All in all, Dice made the expert repair badge way to hard to get, compared to the support and medic ones.

Playing an insurgent engineer on the Warlord map will gain you tons of repairs as the SAS pound away at the assets mecilessly on that map.
You get to carry an sk12, so it's not such a bad deal.

im shure they made it harder as there was a glitch some time ago called boat tipping
you would be an enginner in a bot and drive it onto the side of the essex and the boat would flip over
then you could repair it at the same rate as it was damaged by the water
EA fixed this and made it harder to get repair points
that glitch was funny though on high points you could get like 1000 repair points a round
im shure there is a video on utube about it actually

You going to need a long round of 2 roughly equal teams. Maybe a 20 person server on a 64 player map.MajorHoulahan_MASH wrote:

Taunting them to blow up stuff to repair might help. Tell your commander not to use supply crates to repair assets. Find a good teammate who well help you. In my case the tank driver and I switched vehciles a few times and that gave me a couple of repair points as well.
Hope the enemy team helps you out if your in a mobile convoy like I was.
On Warlord, if the SAS have a hard time taking the TV Station, you have a good chance of getting a bunch of repair points with a dedicated insurgent spec ops guy. Also at the palace if the SAS capture one, but not both palace flags.
A long Fushe Pass or Dragon Valley game in a mobile convoy might work as well.
The key to all is you need time and a lot of it . When you go for that expert repair badge you must remember that your first task is repair, repair and more repair. Don't worry about one of the stars at the end of the round. If you worry about a star at the end of the round you will not get your 20 repair points.
If your going to hang back at a base to repair. Don't kill the spec ops guy unless he goes to steal a tank or apc then try to kill him before he gets it. Most likely he will blow the assets and die right afterwards. You get 4 points by the time he's back for another go round.
You might try telling your team that your going for the expert engineer badge. If someone calls for repairs, get their as fast as you can. Those little DPVs and Jeeps are great for a sprint halfway across the map. ATVs in SF are good too.

That's one of the best ideas I've heard in a long time. I'd love to slam the wrench on somebody's head...Ironsteed wrote:
And another thing... if a medic running around in battle can use his paddles to zap an enemy dead on the spot, then why can't the engineer use his wrench as a melee weapon? Maybe not a one hit kill, but atleast give us a chance.
If anyone needs help getting engy badges, I'd be glad to go on a server with you and blow shit up.
Find a buddy to help you and tank. Let the enemy damage your friend's tank with SRAWs/Grenades/and a few tank shells before killing the enemy/getting out of there. Only kill the enemy if you or your friend risks being killed. If your friend is in danger, let him retreat and try to shield him i.e. if you are side by side and an enemy tank is about to kill your friend, let him back up and you drive infront of his place so you take the hit so he hopefully doesn't get killed.
Best solution for this medal is "warlords". If your doing your job rite as a commander youll always have spec ops trying to blow your sh!t. I was commander on insurgent team and there would always be spec ops coming in trying to blow my assets so instead of killing them, in the beginning of the round i would steal there apc and camp in the back guarding the palace letting them blow up my stuff while i fixed it. While im fixing something i will act as if i dont see them and when they try to put c4 on the apc i just drive off and come back, lol ill also place a supply crate away from the commander assets making the enemy think its for me . Rofl its just like feeding a kid candy. Ya and make sure your in one of those high point servers where the rounds last long time and how ever you do it make sure you dont kill the enemy spec ops untill you've gotten the award because he's the ticket to your success.
EDIT: if your going to run as commander make sure your doing your duty as commander because if not youll have alot of angry teamates.

That is awesome, cos I played 15 player - 64 maps and those take hours to finish...URE_DED wrote:

So no, the only points you get are from your teammates or from kills.
He already said that he knows that you don't get the points.
To answer your question dquinner, yes you do get the repairs. I received my Veteran Repair repairing my assets while a commander and whiping out those pesky and very persistant SpecOps.
Yepp nice to know that you get repair points as a commander....
a stupid question but anyway .. do you haw to be Engineer/Commander to get it to work or dos it matter?????

Doesn't matter if your commander and engineer at the same time or engineer only. I find it being an engineer only to keep track of repair points.znozer wrote:

Ya for some odd reason the points didnt pop up or show when i was commander wrenching that i had gotten repair points, but i just kept wrenching away and walla walla bing bang theres my medal.DSRTurtle wrote:
