Who has seen this unlock in action? what does it look like? im afraid with almost all my setting on low (no shadows) i wont stand the same chance of spotting these guys.

and whats your experience with this device so far.

Well in the beta it kicked ass. From what I heard now like everything else it got a major nerf up the ass. The assault pods go about 10 feet now. Instead of hopping between points like you used to. They have different ranges for close to the titan or in the middle of a field.

You're actually better off using no shadows and no dynamic lighting.

Without them, it just makes the camo a bit darker around the edges, and thus, much easier to spot.

A small tip when using the Active Camo. Make sure you're not a squad leader with a drone deployed. Unlike you it doesn't camo... and sticks out like a sore thumb. :p

Doesn't it still make a sound? I could always tell in the beta cause there was this telltale electronic whirring. Once you realize there's someone around, you can easily spot the visual distortions.

active camo has been nerfed badly. infact i just sniped 6 (a whole squad) people with camo @ about 150m. they were not spotted, just when scanning over the fields i noticed them. pretty useless now

Maybe you're just awesome and need to get nerfed and it's not the Camo's fault.

Active camo is best for getting the jump on someone. You can't really run straight at them, but its nice for making dashes for the reactor room and stuff like that.

I have camo and use it every now and then, especially since I now have the Lambert carbine as well. Close up it looks like the outline of the person is darker than the background, blurry and slightly zoomed/enlarged.

I love the Active Cammo, I find that in most maps, almost no one spots you when you're using this correctly!
But as Max said: When an enemy Sniper is scanning the area with his scope, looking for targets, he might just see you if you're running around..
I also noticed that the camo doesn't have much effect in the Titans, because, well most of the time the enemies are so close to you that they can easily spot you..
And also it indeed still does make that electric sound (I think it sounds cool..) and you can only hear it if the one who's using it is about 10 feet away, so by then, it might be too late..

At least that's what my experience tells me.. :-)

Active camo is really nerfed since beta. Now, you can clearly see the cloaked person because sometimes his figure turns black for a couple of seconds. It's not useful for running around anymore, still help C4 tanks though. Honestly, it's not really helpful, so I guess I'm going to use APMs and RDX-Demos instead.

Camo makes them a bit blurry and they are sometimes hard to spot if thy are far away (50+m) but if they are close no problems spoting them and since they have no gun out you can pump em full of lead

Its not nerfed, heres a Dice reply on the subject

We have not changed it, rather you are seeing how the lighting of a level or a situation changes its effectiveness. You need to be keenly aware of when the cloak is effective. It just so happens that Verdun is a highly effective place to use the camo.
