I'm going with the 7900GS from eVGA. Buying a SLI board and going to get a second one soon after. Also doing the same with ram. Buying 1GB to start and get the second soon after.
i like your thinkin, but i think you should seriously consider intel...they are much better/faster for your price range atm...not because im pro-intel, because i think that most of the others posting here are taking a one-minded approach. do some benchmark comparisons to processors/cards and make the decision for yourself...
i was so sold on the 7900gtx when it came out, i was gonna buy one that day...but i looked at the benchmarks, and the x1900xt was a good 15fps average better with my processor (P4) then the nvidia...thus i switched from 3 previous nvidia cards to an ati...because it was better. so look into it, if nothing else.

have you guys even played 2142. My 7600gt with athlon 64 3700 and 1 gig of value ram run it better than i ever ran bf2. I load maps in under 10 seconds and my frames are always 70+
No I have not played 2142 for the simple fact I can't.(I wish I could. ) Anyways, I also need a heat sink and fan for socket AM2. On newegg.com its so confusing to which works with AM2 since it does not say anywhere on the product information. newegg.com just puts them according to what works but it just does not say it.
PS: Does anyone know where I can get a DVD copy of BF2? Cause I still want to play it even though 2142 is out.(BF2 forever!!!)
