So i started up my ea downloadered version of 2142 and found out that :
1) You cant play the game unless the ea downloader is installed...if the ea downloader is exited then once you start the shortcut fo rthe game it opens ea downloader and the game begins. Grrrrrr....i dont need another program running in the background.
2) Bf2142Launcher.exe starts the game, not bf2142.exe like the dvd version :-/
3) After playing for 3 minutes on my laptop i got a tech service call from someone here at work and had to exit, when i did there was a windows firewall message saying that it blocked bf2142Pace.exe. :-/ Hrmmm...whats that program do?? Is that our "spyware"
4) you can find your ea downloader cd key for 2142 by logging onto ea and going to your account then "my games" or something, and it will display your unique cd keys for everything you have purchased on ea downloader...that key IS accepted by the dvd installer...but...there is no way to play without the dvd at this time...Looking forward to someone making a mini image like bf2 has so i can install off my friends dvd and not have all this ea downloader stuff still on here running.
5) I was never made aware that there is adware included with the ea downloader version like the lucky folks who bought the dvd version and had a printed out paper. I WAS informed and required to accept the responsibility that Punkbuster and Direct X 9.0c was being installed, but nothing about In Game Advertisements...hrmm....are the dvd users the only ones to get in game ads??? I doubt it, but MAYBE! seeing as how ea didnt have to master a cd, print a box/label/case, maybe that makes up for the money saved on their side?? I doubt it..but maybe..
See you on the battlefields!!
