BF2142 keeps crashing back to Desktop.

I don't know whether this is just me or number of others are experiencing this, but I cannot start BF2142.

I got to play 7 rounds of Titan mode at Minsk (correct spelling??) and turned the game off to eat lunch. When I came back from the lunch, I found that BF2142 just would not start. Every time I run BF2142, it crashes back to desktop without any videos being played, and without error message (the usual error message by windows, when something crashes, is not shown at all).

Anyone else having this problem?
Anyone can help me?

I liked the first seven (and my last seven...) rounds that I played in BF 2142 but I need to let this work again to enjoy any further BF2142.

Its odd because i played for over an hour last night, quit, and the game would not restart thereafter (no error message, no event log entry,...).

I have the same problem, i bought the game like an hour ago, installed it, updated it to patch 1.01 and went in to a server. And a soon as i got in it crashed almost immediately. So I restarted and the same thing happened again... I thought this was only a problem with the demo. Damn it. I really hope DICE or someone can help us fix this now! Cause I wanna play!!!!!!!

Now, when I start the game, I can play for like 1-2 minutes, and then it crashes.. DICE, do something plzz!!!!!!

I heard that form someone that you can try switching off VOIP. Gonna try it myself.

tried it - no cigar, if it does load a map, I get 2 minutes tops. Normally it loads, I appear, game shuts down, I'm left shouting at desktop again. What a crock this game is so far

I'm getting CTD whenever I press Esc in game...

Sometimes though it'll just hang and then I see my red moon desert wallpaper.

Ok I fixed it.
This is what I did in steps.

1. Uninstalled KB917422
2. Uninstalled BF2142
3. Deleted Local Content (Server setting, Profiles, etc) including the folder in Program Files
4. Reinstalled Bf 2142
5. Checked if the BF 2142 runs without the patch (successful)
6. Applied BF 2142 patch
7. It miraculously WORKED!!!
