Did you say that your computer doesn't read the CD? Cuz if thats the case, than there's your problem because its only on DVD, else I don't know..

That means that your DVD drive firmware isn't liking it due to the copy protection. You should look up online for the maker of your DVD drive, and download the newest drivers/firmware for it.

Well i think it's probably just your CD, just go exchange it for a new one. If it's not yur CD then try downloading some drivers for your disc reader. Oh and close all the unneccesary processes in the tsk manager like it says in the game manual.

Oh boy. Good thing I haven't bought 2142 yet. I'm waiting awhile till all the bugs are fixed.

Unlike BF2, they are very bad computer problems, not just ingame bugs.

Flaw is though, because it requires Online Registration to play (like WoW or Guild Wars) you can't return the disc, as you have permanently bound your EA account to the CD-key. I very much doubt they would accept your saying "but I haven't installed it" because you can't prove it.

In the UK you can return anything and get your money back as as long as a) you've got the receipt and b) if they haven't purposely stated at the time of purchase that its exempt from being returned (which they didnt do for me)! So go and return it anyway, just in case it is that.

Do you have a DVD drive?

It is possible that you could return it, but since it has Internet Required on it, they'll probably just lump it in with WoW and Guild Wars and not let you take it back.

same thing happened to me, my DVD/CD combo drive could read CD's but not DVD's, you have to get a new drive.

I have the box here with me, it says "Internet Registration Required", which would probably mean you need the internet to use it

And yes, I did read your post, and I also live in the UK, so I know what the return policies are. But they still might not take it back, it depends on which store he bought it from as to what their return policy is.

Thats not the same as 'Internet Required' is it? Its the law mate, if they dont say 'This product is exempt from our money back guarantee' then you cant return it, if they dont say this then they have to take it back. Simple.

Edit: You can play BF2142 in single player, which doesnt need the internet, I know you still have to register but you saying 'Internet Required' would make it a bit different, just like WoW.

I can still imagine some stores just not taking it back though, whether it's the law or not. If they don't take it back, you'd have to get involved with Trading Standards, and the vast majority of people can't be bothered to do that.

Usually if you keep telling them its the law and ask to speak to the manager, they'll take it back. They dont want the hassle either. I know about this because I used to work in Argos who have the crappy 'This is exempt from our 16 day money back guarantee', and customers usually got pretty pissed when I told them that actually meant something!

Yea, it is funny how many people don't read the Terms + Conditions, or don't listen to them saying that it isn't returnable when you buy it, and then whine afterwards saying that they were scammed
