Hi,

Ive been playing BF2 pretty much since it was released and Ive also been playing the BF2142 Demo since that was released, and both have been working fine on my PC, but last night when i clicked on the BF2142 Demo icon, the screen goes black and then straight to desktop.

Tried this a few times, still nothing. So i restarted, and it was still not working, so i re-installed the demo, and still the same.

But this is where it gets strange, i thought, "oh well", BF2 it is. Clicked on the BF2 icon, and it did exactly the same as the BF2142 Demo.

So i re-installed BF2 and it still didn't work. I checked all my other games and they all work fine. I even used System Restore to put my PC back a few days, but that didn't solve it.

How is it both BF2 and the BF2142 Demo both stop working in the same way on the same day?

This is my first real post, and I'm not really sure about what the karma system is or how it works, but if someone can help me out, I'll give them a massive amount of karma.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated, and I'm putting off buying the full BF2142 in case that doesn't work either.

I know what your all thinking, just what he wrote, but I haven't got much money, and I've only got 3 games installed on my PC, and BF2 and the BF2142 Demo were my favorite games, but its not just the fact that there not working it's also to do with the fact that I don't want my PC to have some major error on it. I just thought that there might be someone out there whole could help me, thats all.

well i updated my video card drivers about 2 weeks ago to the latest ones and they worked fine, and so did my games, but one night they were fine, and then in the morining the were not working.

I dont understand why both BF2 and the BF2142 Demo can both stop working in the same way at the same time, where as my others games are still fine.

I keep thinking maybe EA has got it in for me.

Hey. Happened to me. Reinstalled both to different directories. Pain in the ass too.

#1 is to reinstall video drivers.

besides that, you have to try to think what you have changed on your pc recently.  then undo that change.

I had the same exact problem with you when it came to running BF2142.
This is what I did in steps to fix my problem. Hope this works for you as well.

1. Uninstalled KB917422
2. Uninstalled BF2142
3. Deleted Local Content (Server setting, Profiles, etc) including the folder in Program Files
4. Reinstalled Bf 2142
5. Checked if the BF 2142 runs without the patch (successful)
6. Applied BF 2142 patch
7. It miraculously WORKED!!!

Thanks for your info guys, i think im just gonna have to have a mess arond, and if it doesnt work, oh well. At least now ill have nothing to distract me from my uni work.

Also, i would leave all of you a +1 karma, but i havent had enough posts yet inorder to unlock the ability to give them, so you will all have to wait im afraid. (a little battlefield-esk)
