One of my job titles is "Commercial Artist" so I some opinions of the following story, but when you know your goverment has paid for this I feel very strong on the subject.

I'd like some artists to defend what is going on here as I can't. The gallery in which this so called display is being held is only a mile away but I have no intention of going, if I did I'd graffiti the walls with what I produce on the "throne" every morning, just after my first coffee.

While I appricate this won't appeal to 99% of the people here it's worth reading just to see how fucked up and wrong it is. One lady says its like the "Emporer's Clothes" and I think that sums it up.

Basically the Arts Council of Wales has chucked an artist a load of money to make an exhibition of.......nothing. The galleries walls are blank white. Not a thing on the walls, anywhere. His idea is you look at the blank walls and remember what the last gallery was you saw. Well fuck me if he gets paid thousands for that theres hope for all of us.

I would imagine there is a fee to view this bullshit but if your daft enough to cough up hard earned dosh thats your tuff shit. What I find incredible is this wanker has been paid to paint the walls white and thats it.

We have had all kinds of funny shit happening over here with artists displaying loads of cows shit and body parts all in the name of art but this really is fucked. I wouldnt of even posted it if he hadn't been funed by tax payers like me, I wan't to smack the dopey twat who gave him the money and the so called artist himself.

But surely the 'creativity' is coming from the person looking at the blank walls and not the 'artist'.

I think this is quite definitely a load of bollocks. If I want to appreciate a white wall I'll stay at home, although I may print out this article for the next time the wife has me painting and demand payment for the 'work of art' I've just 'created' for her

you sir are a moron. this is not art. there is no reason that it is. yes, one could argue that "everything" is art, and to an extent. but its definitely not a fine art, its nothing. there is nothing here to be art. like the article said its really more psychology than anything else. how can it be art if there is nothing there to be. sure, art is an idea, but it requires representation in a physical form to stand for proof of that idea. but this is an empty gallery and nothing more. and going through remembering what was there before? do that at home and save your money.

What do you define as 'fine arts'. That is the main question. That is the issue here, we all have our different taste considering art.

Couldn't agree more, art should be something inspires you.... A picture that is well painted or a sculpture that has been creatively carved is what I call art. Someone building a wall or chucking some shit on the floor, in my book this does not constitute art and to be honest in my opinion the "artist" is taking the piss... Perhaps they are short of a bob or two and just thought what have I got in the local tip that I can chuck on the floor and sell it for thousands. Some of these artists and critics are so full of shit and up their own arses they can floss their back teeth.

If I only knew then what I know now they could have turned our block in to the Tate Ultra Modern - we could have ponsey art critics wandering about, doging last weeks take away and loose vodka bottles - We could have also shown them the Wall of Stella, beer cans from floor to ceiling along a 12 foot wall.... Like Mullet I had the idea of making a mess in my bedroom aswell.

I was going to "face paint" the lovely Doris as she slept the other night, as I winked she told me "fuck off I have a headache".

"Thats it ya bitch, just you wait till you nod off", I replied.

But I reckon like Mullet I'd end up with a black eye and perhaps served with divorce papers. I could always tell the judge it's in the name or art, oh, and love.
