Ok my friend has a computer with an Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset. I don't know a whole lot about compters but he found out that t is an onboard chipset and not good enough to run bf2. He recently got a Radeon 1300 Pro with 256Mb, I believe. how should he go about installing the graphics card and is it compatible with the motherboard he already has?
depends if he has AGP or PCIe
true that...What kind of card is it? does his motherboard have a PCIe slot? it probably will have a agp if it is an older computer.MECtallica wrote:

how can he determine that
should say on the box

its a fairly new computer. Is it possible that his computer doesnt have a graphics card at all? Just the onboard set (which he needs to keep for some applications).
It is obvious b replies tat i am retarded when it comes the these things. what the hell does pci or any of that crap mean.

yes, he could have an integrated one (built in with the motherboard)jkg1389 wrote:

PCIe and AGP are two different types of slots on a motherboard. That card will fit into one of them depending on what the card is designed for. If the card is designed for a different type of slot than he has he is SOL
EDIT: PCIe slot http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCIE
AGP slot http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated_Graphics_Port

The video card says that it is adaptable with both PCI, AGP, and one other I forgot. I still am wondering whether or not its possible he doesnt have a videocard at all, just the chipset on the motherboard.
Corrrect. All he has is the integrated graphics. If he had an add-on he'd know it.jkg1389 wrote:

Find out what make and model his system is. Post it here and we can find out if it has PCI-e, or Google it and you should be able to find out that way.
couldn't u just find a tech shop, or any place that fixes computers, i'm sure they could install it for you as it'll be hard to figure it out without firsthand help.
We need to know what kind of computer it is. Make and Model is all we need and someone could quickly tell you what kind of vid card he would need. AND how to dissablr the onboard graphics chip so the New vidio card will work for him. Only takes about 10 minutes for one of us to look.
I'm really not sure what kind of computer it is, I know its a Sony and you can watch TV on it, thats it.

Disable the onboard gfx via the BIOS, then slip the card into the slot, start up PC, install drivers.
He does need to make sure the card he buys is compatible with his mobo. Either AGP or PCI-E.

Take it to someone that knows what there doing
